    Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Harrier, nee Schwalm, mother of John and Leslie Harner and sister of John Schwalm, all of Tremont, died Saturday evening at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stiely, Valley View. She had been ill for a long period of time.
    Her husband R. Ellsworth Harner, died in 1933.
    Mrs. Harner was born June 20, 1874. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Wolfgang Schwalm.
    She is survived by these children: John F. Harner, Tremont; Elva, wife of James Miller, Valley View; wife of Fred Stiely, Valley View; Grace, wife of Wm. Bower, Allentown; Leslie Harner, Tremont High School band director and instrumental music teacher in the Tremont schools and one adopted daughter Daisy, wife of Harry Martz, Lykens.
    Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Samuel Schwalm, Valley View. John Schwalm, owner of Schwalm's Bakery, Tremont; and two sisters Mrs. John Laudenslager and Mrs. Tillie Updegrove, Valley View.
    Her funeral was held from the Stiely home in Valley View on Wednesday morning at 10:30 with further services in the Evan. U. B. Church, Valley View. Rev. H. M. Mentzer officiated. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. H. E. Miller, Valley View, was the funeral director.

    Tremont Borough Secretary Dies
    John F. HARNER Harner, 65, Tremont Borough Secretary, died suddenly in the Pottsville Hospital on Tuesday evening. Although he had been ill for ten weeks, he had improved greatly and was discharged from the hospital last week, but his release was delayed when his wife was taken to the hospital last Thursday.
    Mr. Harner spent Tuesday evening in his wife's hospital room. She was to have undergone surgery the following morning. When it was time for him to retire, his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Kohn, took him back to his room and was helping him get ready for bed when he slumped over and died instantly. Death was attributed to heart failure.
    Born in Valley View, Mr. Harner was a son of the late Ellsworth and Frances Schwalm Harner. He resided in Tremont for the past 41 year.
    For the past 22 years, he was deputy treasurer for Schuylkill County. Earlier, he was employed by the Philadelphia & Reading Coal & Iron Company.
    Mr. Harner was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont, a former member of the Church Council, he served on that body for 30 years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, the Tremont Men's Club, and the B.P.O.E., Pottsville.
    He is survived bv his wife the former Lillie Schmeltz; one daughter, Dora, wife of Clarence Kohr, Tremont; one brother, Leslie Harner, Tremont; one grandson, John Kohn, Trtemont; three sisters, Elva, wife of James E. Miller; Verna, wife of Fred Stiely, both of Valley View; Grace, wife of William Bower, Allentown; and several aunts and uncles.
    His funeral will be held at ten o'clock Saturday morning from the Minnig Feneral Home, Tremont. The Rev. Freeland L. Hemig, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont, will officiate. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Tremont.
    Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9.
