    SSG Bruce E. Schwalm, USA (Ret.), 93, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Born on February 19, 1925, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Jennie Snyder Schwalm, and was preceded in death by a son, Henry A. Schwalm; five sisters; and four brothers. He was a member of the Fort Lee Memorial Chapel, the American Legion Post #2, and the National Military Retirees Association. Mr. Schwalm was the owner/operator of Schwalm Real Estate Company in Petersburg for over 45 years.
    He is survived by his wife, Hildegard A. Schwalm; two sons, Frank E. Schwalm and Timothy L. Schwalm (Janet); three granddaughters, Jennie Andrews (Cory), Rebecca Smith (Jamison) and Kristen Schwalm; one grandson, Cameron Schwalm; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Smith; and very special nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the funeral home. A special thanks for all of their loving care at Southside Regional Medical Center ICU Unit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
