    Calvin Schwalm, of Tremont, diei at 11:45 o'clock, Monday morning, January 3, following a heart attack
    For several years he has been employed as a driver by his brother, John, a baker, and traveled through the western section of the county. Monday morning he was on the route as usual and was still in Tremont when he became ill and was removed to his home.
    Dr. Leslie Schwalm, of Pottsville, was summoned and shortly after he had left, a heart attack resulted in the death of the patient.
    He was a member of the United Brethren Church.
    Surviving are his wife and five children, Mary, Reuben, Joyce, Gerald, and Jean. A number of brothers and sisters also survive.

    Surviving are a daughter, Marie Runkle of Sellersville; a sister, Jane Curran of Levittown; three brothers, Wayne Schwalm of Mineral Wells, TX, Fred Schwalm of Valley View, and Bruce Schwalm of Petersburg, VA; two grandchildren; a great-grandson.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating. Interment was in Simeon's Cemetery, Gratz.

    He was a member of First Baptist Church, served on the Chamber of Commerce Board, served on the United Fund Board, was a past member of the Rotary Club, delivered Meals on Wheels, was a member of the King—Bee Coffee Club at Shotguns, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #611.
    He is survived by his son: Wayne Samuel (Sam) Schwalm Jr. of Fort Worth, daughter: Sandra Lee (Sandy) Schwalm of Weatherford, granddaughters and husbands: Jennifer and Kelly Hoover of Overland Park, Kansas, Emily and Aaron May of Fort Worth, great-grandchildren: Sidney and Zoe Harwell, Kayla and Ashley Hoover, brothers and sisters-in-law: Fred and Bess Schwalm of Valley View, Pennsylvania, Bruce and Hilda Schwalm of Petersburg, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Services were held Monday, Oct. 26, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. Doug Walker officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

    Fred J. Schwalm, 94, formerly of Valley View, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 in Manor Care, Pottsville.
    Born March 22, 1921 in Valley View, he was a son of the late Samuel and Jenny (Snyder) Schwalm.
    A retired farmer and truck driver, he was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Valley View.
    He was the widower of Bessie M. (Enders) Schwalm since February 2014.
    Surviving are sons Joseph, husband of Linda Schwalm of Elizabethtown, Daniel, husband of Karen Schwalm of Valley View, Aaron, husband of Bonnie Schwalm of Deep Creek and Samuel Schwalm of Hegins; brother Bruce Schwalm of Petersburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.8,9

    Ida S. Schwalm, 90, formerly of Valley View, died Monday at Tremont Nursing Center.
    Born in RD Klingerstown on May 22, 1304, she was a daughter of the late Terry and Harriet Snyder Stiely.
    She worked in a garment factory before retiring.
    She was a member of St Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and Tri-Valley Senior Citizens.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, Jan. 31, 1938.
    Surviving are two sons, Lyle R. Schwalm, Langhome; and Jerred F. Schwalm, Florida; three daughters, Joyce Koppenhaver, Tremont; Jean Heinly, Reading, and Mary Strovinky, St Louis, Mo; a brother, Wellington Stiely, Valley View; a sister, Emma Wiest, Fleetwood; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday from St Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. The Rev. Mark Woodring will officiate. Interment will be at St Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. There are no calling hours Thursday. Robert Miller Funeral Home, Valley View is in charge of arrangements.
