    MOUNT CARMEL -- Katie T. Dietz, 84, of 322 W. Third St., died in the Geisinger Medical Center, Wednesday afternoon.
    Born in Klingerstown R.D. on Jan. 28, 1890, Miss Dietz was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lilly (Starr) Dietz. She was a resident of Mount Carmel since 1926. Miss Dietz was employed as a bookkeeper at Maurer's Wayside Dairy from 1926 until her retirement in July, 1972. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown R.D. She attended Bible Fellowship Church, Mount Carmel, where she served as a church school teacher for many years.
    Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Florence Geist, Dornsife R.D; Mrs. Louella Maurer, Miami, Fla; Mrs. Verna Semerod, Frackville, and Mrs. Esther Hepler, Pitman, and four brothers, Ray and Willard, Klingerstown R.D; Herlen, Frackville, and Marlin, Harrisburg.
    Arrangements are in charge of the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home.

    She was born at Rough and Ready.lower Northumberland County, on June 18, 1894, a daughter of the late Elmer and Lilly Starr Dietz.
    She and Lewis R. Maurer were married Dec. 24, 1916, in Pitman by Rev. J. K. Freed. Mr. and Mrs. Maurer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
    The couple settled in Mt. Car mel in 1924, when Mr. Maurer founded Maurer's Wayside Dairy.
    Mrs. Maurer was a member of Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, Mt. Carmel, and the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Earl Willard, Harold and Robert, all of Mt. Carmel; a daughter, Esther Maurer, Philadelphia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Palmer Haas, Pitman; Katie Dietz, Mt. Carmel; Mrs. Earl Hepler, Brandonville: Mrs Louella Maurer, Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. William Semerod, Frackville; and Mrs: Earl Geist, Red Cross; and four brothers, Herlen Dietz, Frackville; Ray and Willard Dietz, Klingerstown RD, and Marlin Dietz, Harrisburg.
    Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Rothermel funeral home at Mt. Carmel, will be announced Friday.
