    Mrs. Elisabeth Farnan, Native Of Mahantonga Valley, Fatally Stricken
    Mrs. Elizabeth Wiest Faman, 59, died at her home at Gordon late Saturday night. Although she had been in failing health for some time the death of the woman came with startling suddenness following an attack of heart disease as she was leaving the home of Lucy Fisher at Gordon following a visit there.
    She was a native of the Mahantonga Valley, but had been a resident of Gordon for the past 30 years. Her husband, Joseph Farnan met death in an accident at Mahanoy Plane some years ago.
    The following children survive: Mrs. Harry Martz, Thomas and William Weist, Mrs. Albert Paul, Charles Faran, all of Gordon; Mrs. George Dengler, Mowry; Mrs. Ralph Lavor, Pottstown. Four brothers and one sister also survive: James, Carl, Isaiah, Henry and Mrs. Norman Rothermel, all of Mahantongo Valley. There are also ten grandchildren.
    The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock and burial will be made in the Fountain Springs cemetery.

    William D. Weist 54, of 509 McKnight St., Gordon, former borough council president, chairman of the Gordon division of Ashland Area Industrial Devel- opment Group, and active in Republican political circles, died suddenly on Sundav at 5:25 a.m. in his home. He had been in ill health for some time.
    Mr. Weist, a lifelong resident, of Gordon, was a son of the late William and Eliza Carl Weist.
    Employed for 30 years for the Reading Railroad as a hostler, he began a sick leave at the beginning of the year.
    He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Gordon, Ashland Lodge of Elks and past exalted ruler, Ashland Lodge of Odd Fellows, member and past president of Citizens Fire Co. of Gordon, and a member of Brotherhood of Railroad Firemen.
    Mr. Weist, Republican committeeman in Gordon for many years, served on me borough council for 20 years, 14 of which he was council president. He retired from that office in January 1958.
    He was secretary-treasurer of Gordon Video Co.
    Surviving are, his wife, the former Florence Rickard of Gordon; two sons, Harry, an associate of the Fetter-Rickard Dairy Farms at Gordon, and Glenn of Bradford; one granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Mart and Mrs. George Dengler, both of Gordon and Mrs. Ralph Laver of Pottstown; two brothers, Thomas of Ashland and Charles Farnan of Philadelphia.
    Funeral Wednesday afternoon from Otto Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. John Swavely, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, will officiate at services. Interment in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

    Mrs. Maurer was a mmber of Salem Lutheran and Reformed Church, Klingerstown.

    Born June 19, 1897, at Klingerstown RD1, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Lillie (Starr) Dietz. She was married to John Maurer, who preceded her in death.
    She had lived in Los Angeles, Calif., for many years, where she had been employed as a sales clerk for the May Company until retiring in 1967. Shortly afterward, she moved to Miami.
    She was educated in the Klingerstown area schools and was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown RD1.
    She is survived by a daughter, Grace M. Barlett of Miami; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Hepler of Pitman RD1, Paa; and two brothers, Ray E. Dietz of Klingerstown RD1, and Marlin Dietz of Harrisburg, Pa.
    She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marie Scott and Bernice Martinez; two brothers and seven sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD1, by the Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy, her pastor, of Klingerstown RD1. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown RD1.
    Visitors may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
