    MOUNT CARMEL - A funeral will be conducted Saturday in Mount Carmel for Lewis R. Maurer, 83, of 322 W. Third St., who was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday in the Shamokin State General Hospital.
    He was engaged in the dairy industry at Maurer's Wayside Dairy, Mount Carmel, and semi-retired in 1972.
    Born in Pitman Jan. 24, 1897, he was a son of the late Robert and Vesta Snyder Maurer. He was married to the former Edna T. Dietz, who died in 1967.
    He had lived in Mount Carmel since 1924.
    Mr. Maurer was a member of Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, Mount Carmel, where he was a former elder, and was a life-member of the Schuylkill County Milk Dealer's Association Area 4.
    He is survived by a daughter, Miss Esther Maurer of Philadelphia; two sons, Harold and Robert, both of Mount Carmel; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl, Heim of Pitman, Mrs. Verna Esher of Shamokin and Mrs. Earl Herring of Elysburg.

    ASHLAND -- William H. Semerod, 72, of 119 S. Second St., Frackville, died Monday at 2:50 a.m. in Ashland State General Hospital. He had been hospitalized 11 days and in failing health two years.
    Born in Aristes, April 3, 1903, Mr. Semerod was a son of the late Lewis and Ada (Lindenmouth) Semerod. He was employed by Maurer's Dairy, Mount Carmel. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown R.D. On April 19, 1924, Mr. Semerod was married to the former Berna Dietz, Klingerstown.
    Survivors include the widow, five children, Mrs. Edward (June) Olson, Emaus; William Semerod, Pottsville; Mrs. John (Verna) Hutton, Pottstown; Mrs. Robert (Lillie) Deitrich, Aurora, Colo; Jack Semerod, Wilburton No. 2; 14 grandchildren, four great-granchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Swade, Frackville, and Mrs. William Raudenbush, Sebastian, Fla.

    Earl R. Geist
    Earl R. Geist, 83, of RD Dornsife, was dead on arrival at 1 Friday afternoon at Geisinger Hospital where he was taken by Dalmatia ambulance after being stricken ill at his home Friday morning. He had been in ill health for two years.
    Mr. Geist was born Nov. 9, 1835 at Leck Kill, son of the late Wilson H. and Helen Koppenhaver Geist, and was educated in the Leck Kill schools. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He had lived in the Red Cross area for 48 years. As a young man he had been employed as a lumberman and was last employed by the Tressler Lumber Co., Trevorton, before retiring. He was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck."
    He was married Jan. 3, 192) at Leck Kill to the former Florence Dietz who survives.
    Also surviving are a daughter, Peggy M., wife of the Rev. Burlington Latshaw Jr., RD2 Schuylkill Haven, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Summer Hill; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; a brother, Lester of Leck Kill and a sister, Mrs. Verdie Mattern, a guest at the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman.
    Services will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Robert Foust Funeral Home, 841 Shamokin St., Treverton, with the Rev. Paul Billow officiating. Burial will be in Himmel's Church Cemetery.

    Willard K. Dietz
    Willard K. Dietz, 60, of RD Klingerstown, died about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. Death was due to natural causes. Mr. Dietz, a life-long resident of RD Klingerstown, was a hydrological technician and was employed at the Northeastern Watershed Research Center, RD Klingerstown.
    He was a son of the late Elmer and Lillie Starr Deitz.
    Mr. Dietz was born Aug. 26, 1914 at RD Klingerstown. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ Church, RD Klingerstown and he served on the church consistory for many years.
    He was a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company.
    In September, 1937, he was married to the former Vida Kelly of Loganton.
    Surviving are his widow; three children, Bernice, wife of Ralph Snyder of Pitman; Ronald of Hegins RD2; Dennis of Gladewater, Tex; five grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Esther Hepler of Pitman; Mrs. Louella Maurer of Miami, Fla; Mrs. Verna Semerod of Frackville; Florence, wife of Earl Geist of Dornsife; three brothers, Herlen of Frackville; Ray of RD Klingerstown and Martin of Harrisburg.
    Services will be held Wednesday from the Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, RD Klingerstown with interment in Salem Cemetery. Rev. Elden Ehrhart will officiate.
