Margaretha Shade

F, #410, b. 21 March 1803, d. 1829
  • Last Edited: 5 Jul 2018
  • Mary Klinger, Klingers from the Odenwald, Hesse, Germany, pp. 311 and 402, suggests that Margaret or Margaretha may have been the daughter of Andreas Shade and Elizabeth Mertz. If so, she was probably born 21 Mar 1803, as there are baptismal records for such a child (although they do not mention the child's name). On page 403, however, Mary Klinger suggests that Margaret was a sister to Jacob Shade, who married Maria Klinger (daughter of George Klinger and Catherine Schmeltz). She says that Samuel (Margaret's son) married "Magdalena Klinger, dau. of George Jr. & Catharine Schmeltz, and a sister to Mary [Maria] who m. Jacob Shade, son of John & brother to wife Margaret. They were second cousins." It is not clear how or if these two statements can be reconciled. It is possible she meant that John Shade, rather than Jacob, was a brother of Margaret.
  • Klinger's Church baptismal records list the baptism of an unnamed child by "Andreas Sched and w. Elisabeth" on May 29, 1803. The child was born Ma 14, 1803.
  • Her married name was Klinger.
  • Margaretha Shade is also referred to as Margaret Schade in some sources.
  • She was born on 21 March 1803.2
  • She was the daughter of Andrew Shade and Elizabeth Mertz.1
  • Margaretha Shade married Johannes P. Klinger, son of Johann Peter Klinger and Catharina Steinbruch.
  • Margaretha Shade died in 1829.3
  • Some sources record that Margaretha Shade died in 1834 Dauphin County, PA.1
