    LEWISBURG -- Anna M. Boyer, 69, of 140 Strawbridge Road, died in the presence of her family on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she had been a patient for one day. Prior to entering the hospital, she had been a patient at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, since Nov. 6, 2007.
    She was born May 21, 1938, in RR1 Herndon, a daughter of the late Fred and Edna (Paul) Strohecker. She was married on June 25, 1960, to Darwin L. Boyer, who survives.
    She was a 1956 graduate of the Mahanoy Joint High School in Dalmatia.
    Anna was first employed by Mandata Poultry and later by Pleasant View Egg Farms in Winfield, retiring in 1984.
    She was of the Lutheran faith.
    Anna loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings, country music, cooking, sewing, crocheting, doing latch hook and attending auctions and carnivals.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Debbie Hackenburg, of Selinsgrove; Wanda Kramer, of Ashland; and Sandy Boyer, of Dallastown; one son, Darwin L. Boyer, Jr. ,of Middleburg; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Terry Strohecker, of RR1 Herndon; her mother-in-law, Anna M. Boyer, of Danville; and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Harner, and one brother, Elwood Strohecker.
    There will be no viewing, but friends and relatives may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Himmel's Church, Rebuck, where a funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Peter Bergstresser officiating.
    Burial will be in Himmel's Cemetery, Rebuck.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown has charge of the arrangements.

    Mrs. Emma S. Hoke, 87, widow of John Hoke, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daniel Brown, Dalmatia, on Wednesday.
    Mrs. Hoke was a daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Klinger) Strohecker, and was a native of Klingerstown. She was a member of Klinger's Reformed Church, Erdman.
    Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Brown, of Dalmatia, and Mrs. Flossie Garlotf, Pillow; two sons, D. Belton Hoke of Pillow, and George Hoke, Elizabethville; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
    Services will be held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg, at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. R. J. Harrity, pastor of the Lykens Reformed Church will officiate and interment will be in Klinger's Church Cemetery at Erdman.
    Friends may call at the Hoover Funeral Home Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 o'clock.

    Funeral services for Joan E. Harner, 57, of 96 McAllister Church Road, Carlisle, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle.
    She died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998 at her residence.
    Born June 30, 1940 in Herndon, the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Paul Strohecker, she was an Avon representative for many years in the Herndon area.
    A 1958 graduate of Lower Mahanoy High School, where she was the class valedictorian, she was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Carlisle and the Ladies' Aid of David's United Church of Christ in Hebe, Pa., where she also taught Sunday school.
    Mrs. Harner is survived by her husband of 38 years, James C. Harner of Carlisle; two sons, Ricky L. of Dills- burg and Steven J. of Carlisle; two daughters, Charlene R. Weller of Dalmatia and Diane M. Weller of Beavertown; two brothers, Elwood R. Strohecker of Millersburg and Terry G. Strohecker of Hemdon; a sister, Anna M. Boyer of Lewisburg; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    The Rev. Darrel Justh and Rev. George F. Heberling will officiate at Thursday's services Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.
    Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, and at the church on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 a.m.

    HERNDON - Terry Gene Strohecker, age 77, of Hebe, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his residence.
    He was born on June 16, 1944 in Hebe a son of the late Fred and M. Edna (Paul) Strohecker.
    Terry was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alpha (Stiely) Strohecker. Terry was also preceded in death by his siblings Elwood, Anna, and Joan.
    He was a 1962 graduate of the former Mahanoy Joint High School.
    Terry was a lifetime member, elder, and council member at Davids United Church of Christ, Hebe. Terry also helped with Palm Sunday breakfasts and other numerous church functions.
    Terry had a passion with farms and cattle. In 1964 he formed a business partnership of Strohecker & Baumert Livestock with the late Gary Baumert and in 1999 incorporated it into S & B Livestock Inc.
    Terry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to the grandkids sporting events, gator rides, and traveling to West Virginia. Terry was an avid card player and was unbeatable. He would always tell his opponents to keep practicing and he was going to play scientific. He would volunteer helping with many annual community events such the community carnivals. Terry was also known for his kettle soups and apple butter that were a yearly tradition enjoyed by many.
    He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather.
    He is survived by his three children; Randy L. Strohecker and his companion (Tiff Morgan) of Penns Creek, Michael G. Strohecker of Finland, and Chris A. Strohecker of Hebe; ten grandchildren, Amanda, Sean (Makenzie), Samantha, Benjamin, Braxton, Sebastian, Nikolas, Chase, Angus, and Terri, three great grandchildren, Paiton, Hunter and Lincoln; Special daughter-in- law, Angie and numerous nieces and nephews.
    There will be a visitation held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1473 Urban Road, Herndon, PA 17830 on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 1-3 PM. A Celebration of Life will start at 3 PM and will officiated by Pastor Dale E. Thomas. A meal will follow.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forrest Community Hall i/co Keith Kembel, 240 Jordan Township Road, Herndon, PA 17830.

    William T. Strohecker, 80, Dalmatia R. D., Expires
    William T. Strohecker, 80, widely known retired farmer, died yesterday in his home at Dalmatia, R.D., from the effects of a stroke of paralysis sustained a year ago.
    Strohecker, son of Harry and Elizabeth (Shadle) Strohecker, was born in the Dalmatia area, where his parents were early settlers. He engaged in farming in early life and continued in that occupation until he retired two years ago. The late rural resident was one of the oldest members of Salem Lutheran Church at Rough and Ready.
    Surviving Strohecker are his widow, Mrs Sallie Strohecker, eight children, 39 grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren.
    The funeral will be held Friday afternoon. Services will be in the home, starting at 2:00. Rev. Fred Blank, of the Lutheran Church circuit, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at Rough and Ready.

    He worked as a meat cutter for Finast for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995, and was a member of Local 880 United Food & Commercial Workers Union.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie, and a sister, Janet.

    RECOVER BODY CRUSHED MINER
    The badly crushed body of Elmer Klinger, Paradise, father of five children, who was entombed in a bootleg coal hole near Lorberry, Friday, with a companion, Wm. Clemens, Bird's Hill, Pine Grove, was removed from the operation at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon several hours after Clemens' body was recovered.
    The men were working the bootleg coal hole in which Noah Kohr of Green Point and Rob't Fidier, Pine Groye were killed last summer, and across the highway from the operation in which Lester Lengle, Ravine, was entombed for 23 days last holiday season.
    The fall which trapped and crushed the men occurred about 200 feet from the mouth of the shaft.
    A third miner working with them, Alex Schnoke of Bird's Hill was coming up the slope when the fall occurred behind him and he spread the alarm and procured help in excavating to reach the entombed men.
    Dr. F J. Walters, county coroner, Pine Grove, released the bodies to funeral director H. L. Snyder.
    Wm. Clemens, 53, is survived by his wife. Lucy, three children. Grace, Sonnie and Shirley, his father, Michael, of Pine Grove, R. D., and a brother, Allen.
    The funeral will be held from the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, Wednesday morning.
    Elmer Klinger, 42, was a World War veteran and leaves to survive his wife Iva, nee White these chil dren, Edw, Chas., Arline, Anna Mae, and Janet, at home; his mother, Mrs. Katherine Klinger, three brothers, Chas., Samuel and Edw., and three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Aungst, Pine Grove; Mrs. Agnes Gottschall, Lebanon and Mrs. Calvin Neal, Pine Grove.
    His funeral will be held with military honors from the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, Wednesday afternoon.

    Ivy Reichert
    Mrs. Ivy I. Reichert, 65, of RD1 Pine Grove, died Sunday at West Reading Hospital. She was born in Pine Grove, a daughter of Mrs. Angeline Dick White and the late Edward White.
    Surviving are her mother of Bethlehem; her husband Charles W; sons and daughters, Charles and Eugene Klinger of Ohio; Kenneth Reichert of Pine Grove; Betty, wife of Merritt Hein of Bethlehem; Arlene, wife of Elvin Fidler of RD3 Pine Grove; Anna Mae, wife of Stewart Smith, with the Army, stationed in Germany; brother Jack White, of Pine Grove; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
    A daughter Janet died in 1968.
    Services will be held Thursday afternoon in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. Interment wil be in Suedberg Church of God Cemetery. Rev. Frederick I. Fisher wil officiate. Snyder Funeral Home of Pine Grove is in charge.
