    DALMATIA - The funeral service for Mrs. Tillie A. Brown of Dalmatiam who died Wednesday morning in the Sunbury Community Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Edwin Hoover Funeral Home, Dalmatia.
    The Rev. Thomas Arner of Herndon will officiate. Burial will be made in Dalmatia Cemetery.
    There will be no visitation on Friday evening and on Saturday the viewing will be limited to relatives of the immediate family, prior to the timr of service.
    Mrs. Brown had been hospitalized on numerous occasions and recently was hospitalized on Dec. 19.
    She was a member Trinity United Church of Chnst and the Ladies Bible Class and Sunday School.
    Born in Gratz, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Emma Strohecker Hoke.
    Surviving are her husband, Daniel H. Brown; one son, Bruce R. of San Antonio, Tex; a daughter, Mrs. David Gerhard of Elizabethville; one granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Flossie Garloff of Pillow, and two brothers, Belton Hoke of Pillow and George Hoke of Elizabethville.

    Mr. Brown was a mechanic by trade and retired a number of years ago.
    He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dalmatia; and the Loyal Order of Moose, Millersburg.
    Born May 26, 1904, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Lydia Smith Brown of Dalmatia. His wife, the formerTillie A. Hoke died in 1973.
    Survivors are. two children, Bruce R. Brown of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. David Gearhart of Elizabethville; a granddaughter; a brother, Harold C. Brown of Dalmatia RD; and a sister, Mrs. Salome Sciullo ol Atlantic City, N.J.
    The funeral tentatively is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Edwin Hoover Funeral Home, Dalmatia, with the Rev. James W. Knowles of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dalmatia, officiating.
    Burial will be in Dalmatia Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Friday until the time of the service.

    ELIZABETHVILLE - David E. Gerhard, 88, of Polk Personal Care of Millersburg passed away Saturday, September 24th, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
    He was born on March 1, 1923 in Jackson Twp., the son of the late Elmer G. and Sarah E. (Miller) Gerhard. David was a veteran of the US Navy. He attended Miller's Country School, and finished his education at Elizabethville High School while growing an acre of potatoes and raising pigs and chickens; all courses required for a diploma. After school he worked on the farm and helped his father paint houses. He said he met his wife, the late Erla I. (Brown) Gerhard, in the chicken house at the Farm Show, and it was love at first sight. They married and lived together in Elizabethville for over 50 years. Together they enjoyed trips to Ocean City, MD.
    He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville and a lifetime member of Reliance Hose Co. #1, Elizabethville.
    He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Margaret, Marlin, Melvin, Paul, Mildred, Elmer, Sarah, Aaron and Lois.
    The family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 1st, at Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville from 10-11 a.m. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m at the church with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elizabethville.
    Donations can be made to to his church at 205 W. Main Street, P.O. Box 427, Elizabethville, PA 17023.
