    Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Green Tree Cemetery, Egypt Road, Oaks. The Rev. David C. Stauffer, pastor of the Green Tree Church of the Brethern in Oaks, will officiate.
    Memorial gifts may be made in her name to the Green Tree Church of the Brethern, Box 116, Oaks 19456.
    Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach, Funeral Home Inc., Phoenixville, is in charge of arrangements.3

    HERNDON - Roland R. Romberger, 85, of 2862 Klingerstown Road, Herndon, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at his residence. He had been in ill health for the past several months.
    Born in Klingerstown, on April 20, 1923, he was a son of the late Stanley C. and Verna Mae (Klinger) Romberger. He was married on Sept. 19, 1942, to the former Mary K. Wolfgang, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2006.
    Roland was a 1940 graduate of the former Dalmatia High School.
    He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in Northern Africa, Italy, Southern France and the Rhineland and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
    He was a farmer, a former employee at the Olmstead Air Force Base at Middletown, and was last employed by TRW at Harrisburg, until retiring in 1985.
    He loved his family and the good times they shared. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
    Roland was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, a life member of both the Alvin Long American Legion, Post 504 of Dalmatia, and the Gratz V.F.W., Post 2385, of Lykens Township.
    Surviving are a son, Roland J. Romberger, of Herndon; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Romberger and Geoffrey Love, of Schuylkill Haven, Beverly Romberger and Frank Harner, of Dalmatia, Gail and Brian Nonnecke, of Roland, Iowa, and Renee and Kevin Breen, of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Kristin Anderson, Jessie Harner, Eric Nonnecke, Jake Harner, Gillian Love, Peter and Scott Breen; one sister, Barbara Koppenhaver, of Halifax; three brothers, Lee Romberger, of Dalmatia, Roy Romberger, of Valatie, N.Y., and Mark Romberger of Tower City; and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Troutman, in 2005; and a brother, Quentin Romberger. in 1991.
    A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Jan Mills, officiating.
    Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 71, Klingerstown, PA 17941.

    "She was born Dec. 26, 1929, one mile west of Klingerstown, a daughter of the late Stanley C. and Verna Mae (Klinger) Romberger. Her mother was the daughter of the late Ellsworth Klinger and Ida C. Knorr. Her father was a well-known produce farmer and market peddler, specializing in onions, butter, eggs, chickens and calves. Marion helped with the picking and packing of the onions for market.
    "Marion attended Nobel School, which was next door to her home. It was at this young school age that she learned to speak English fluently, as the language of her home was Pennsylvania German. She was the third child of her family. She had five brothers, Quentin, who preceded her in death, Roland of RR1 Herndon, Lee of RR1 Dalmatia, Roy of Valatio, N.Y., and Mark of Valley View. She also had one sister, Barbara Koppenhaver of Fisherville.
    "Marion was a 1947 graduate of Lower Mahanoy Township High School in Dalmatia, where she was a basketball star, earning multiple varsity letters. She studied the commercial vocation.
    "Marion married Earl G. Troutman, the boy next door, as his residence was only a mile away from her home. They were married April 10, 1948, in Leck Kill at the Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. Blank.
    "Marion was actively involved in church activities. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Klingerstown, and served on supper committees, was a member of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and was involved in Sunday school activities as well as many other aspects of the church.
    "Marion was a member of Glen Chapter No. 425, Order of the Eastern Star, Lykens. In addition, she served as a leader of the Mahantongo Valley Girl Scouts, Troop No. 71, for several years. Holding meetings in the basement of her home, Marion arranged trips, badge projects, and cookouts for a large group of girls. She always loved to have the girls sit around her picnic tables and sing the song "Princess Pat."
    "Marion was a retired employee of Creative Play-Things in Herndon. She worked in the toy department, where wooden toys and rubber figure sets were made for school distribution. She was a group leader and often spoke of the local school girls who worked at the factory on their summer vacations. She taught them how to paint the toys.
    "Marion and Earl traveled extensively in Europe, developing friendships in Germany and Austria. Marion kept in contact with many of these acquaintances, writing letters and family updates.
    "She developed an active interest in family history, compiling several booklets pertaining to local history and genealogy. She was widely known and well respected regarding her knowledge of local family histories. She had a keen mind and a wonderful memory which aided her ability to recall events of yesteryear. She compiled family histories of all branches of her family tree, complete with photographs and historical narrative, which will be treasured by her children and grandchildren.

    HERNDON - Marion Anna (Romberger) Troutman, 75, of RR1 Herndon died Friday evening, May 13, 2005, in Klingerstown.
    She was born Dec. 26, 1929, one mile west of Klingerstown, a daughter of the late Stanley C. and Verna Mae (Klinger) Romberger. Her mother was the daughter of the late Ellsworth Klinger and Ida C. Knorr. Her father was a well-known produce farmer and market peddler, specializing in onions, butter, eggs, chickens and calves. Marion helped with the picking and packing of the onions for market.
    Marion attended Nobel School, which was next door to her home. It was at this young school age that she learned to speak English fluently, as the language of her home was Pennsylvania German. She was the third child of her family. She had five brothers, Quentin, who preceded her in death, Roland of RR1 Herndon, Lee of RR1 Dalmatia, Roy of Valatio, N.Y., and Mark of Valley View. She also had one sister, Barbara Koppenhaver of Fisherville.
    Marion was a 1947 graduate of Lower Mahanoy Township High School in Dalmatia, where she was a basketball star, earning multiple varsity letters. She studied the commercial vocation.
    Marion married Earl G. Troutman, the boy next door, as his residence was only a mile away from her home. They were married April 10, 1948, in Leck Kill at the Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. Blank.
    Marion was actively involved in church activities. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Klingerstown, and served on supper committees, was a member of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and was involved in Sunday school activities as well as many other aspects of the church.
    Marion was a member of Glen Chapter No. 425, Order of the Eastern Star, Lykens. In addition, she served as a leader of the Mahantongo Valley Girl Scouts, Troop No. 71, for several years. Holding meetings in the basement of her home, Marion arranged trips, badge projects, and cookouts for a large group of girls. She always loved to have the girls sit around her picnic tables and sing the song "Princess Pat."
    Marion was a retired employee of Creative Play-Things in Herndon. She worked in the toy department, where wooden toys and rubber figure sets were made for school distribution. She was a group leader and often spoke of the local school girls who worked at the factory on their summer vacations. She taught them how to paint the toys.
    Marion and Earl traveled extensively in Europe, developing friendships in Germany and Austria. Marion kept in contact with many of these acquaintances, writing letters and family updates.
    She developed an active interest in family history, compiling several booklets pertaining to local history and genealogy. She was widely known and well respected regarding her knowledge of local family histories. She had a keen mind and a wonderful memory which aided her ability to recall events of yesteryear. She compiled family histories of all branches of her family tree, complete with photographs and historical narrative, which will be treasured by her children and grandchildren.

    Earl G. Troutman, 88, of Herndon, passed away Thursday at ManorCare, Sunbury.
    Earl was born in RD Sacramento, April 21, 1928, a son of the late George M. and Mary S. Rabuck Troutman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Bryant Troutman.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion A. Romberger Troutman.
    Earl's interests included traveling, photography, rock collecting and family history. He also enjoyed playing a competitive game of croquet in the backyard with his children and grandchildren.
    He was an active member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, where he served as the superintendent of the Sunday school and president of the cemetery association for many years.
    He graduated from Lower Mahanoy Township High School in 1945. Earl was employed as a bulldozer operator for Troutman Brothers doing excavating and grading of agricultural projects and land improvement work for the state Game Commission.
    He was a member of the Herndon F&AM Lodge 702, the Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Gratz Historical Society, the Northumberland County Historical Society and the Sons of the American Revolution.
    He was the secretary of Jordan Township for many years and was a lifetime member of the Klingerstown Fire Police and Fire Company.
    Earl is survived by two sons, Steve E. Troutman, husband of Joan, Klingerstown, and Glenn L. Troutman, husband of Donna, Sunbury; a daughter, Ruby M., wife of Joseph C. Michetti Jr., Herndon; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clair Troutman, husband of Sandra Troutman, Herndon; his companion, Catherine Wasilewski; nieces and nephews.
    A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Klingerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 71, Klingerstown, PA 17941. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, has charge of the arrangements.
