    Eva M. Klinger, 86, of 2395 Luxemberg Road, Lykens, died Sunday at home. She had been in ill health for the past four weeks.
    Born in Klingerstown, June 15, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Mary Starr Hoffman.
    She was educated in Klingerstown area schools.
    She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children.
    She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, and helped with the church picnics in the grove at the pie and cake stand.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Klinger, on Oct. 16, 1968; and a brother, Jacob Hoffman, on Dec. 8, 1970.
    Surviving are three sons, Thomas Klinger and his wife, Marian, Halifax, Roy Klinger and his wife, Peggy, Erdman, and Larry Klinger and his wife, Lori, Spring Glen; a daughter, Mary Deibler, York; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edith Coop-er, Harrisburg, Ethel Lenig, Loyalton, and Elsie Zimmerman, Ashland; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, with the Rev. Jan Mills officiating.
    A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Erdman. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 71, Klingerstown, PA 17941 or Odyssey Health Care, 4660 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

    Walter Preston Klinger, 82, of Wernersville, died Thursday evening at Reading Hospital.
    Mr. Klinger, born July 4, 1893 in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Scheib Klinger. He was a blacksmith at Hegihs for many years and moved to California in 1944 when he retired.
    His wife, the former Lydia Maurer, died in 1975.
    Surviving are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Donald Artz, Oswego, N.Y; Mrs. Al Nichols, Oleta, Okla; Frank, Robesonia; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Katie Renninger, Zerbe; four brothers, Claude, Saylorsburg; Charles, Linglestown; Ray, Berrysburg; Daniel, Hebe.

    Franklin C. Klinger, 87, formerly of Robesonia, passed away Tuesday of natural causes at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.
    Born in Hegins, he was a son of the late Walter and Lydia Maurer Klinger.
    He served in the Navy on a submarine during World War II.
    Franklin worked for ARCO Pipeline, Spring Township, for 36 years, retiring in 1984.
    He was the husband of Ferne M. Irving Klinger, also a resident of Messiah Village.
    He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Kingstown, and a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Robesonia.
    He was a trustee of Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 226, a life member of Robesonia Fire Company and a member of VFW Post 6666.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Kathy M., wife of Gifford Briner, Mechanicsburg, and Lesley A. Klinger, Hummelstown; a sister, Jeanne Nichols, Wylie, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, with the Rev. Eric Funk officiating. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.   • At the time of his registration for the draft on June 5, 1917 for World War I, George was living in Reading, PA, where he worked as a blacksmith for the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. He was not married.3
  • George Elmer Klinger married Laura May Minnich, daughter of William Henry Minnich and Cora Alice Huntzinger, on 2 March 1918, Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hegins, Schuylkill County, PA.5,6
  • George Elmer Klinger died on 5 October 1918, Base Hospital, Camp Lee, Prince George County, VA, at age 22. Cause of death given as broncho pneumonia and influenza. Death certificate lists George as a private in the Headquarters Company. His WWI Veterans Service Card indicates that at the time of his death he was assigned to Comany D, 14th Battalion "Inf Repl & Training Camp," Camp Lee, VA. He had been inducted into service July 23, 1918 in Reading, PA.7,1,8,4
  • He was buried at Friedens Union Cemetery, Hegins, Schuylkill County, PA. His tombstone indicates "WW I." A newspaper article reported that "Mr. Austin Coleman and wife attended the funeral of the latter's brother, George Klinger who was stationed at Camp Lee and died of this dreaded disease, his body was brought to Hegins, his former home."8,9

    Mrs. Laura M. Cooper, 69. of 1040 North 11th street, Reading, widow of Leon H. Cooper, died Sundav afternoon in Community General Hospital, Reading, where she had been a patient for two davs.
    Born in Hegins, she was a daughter of William and Cora (Huntzinger) Minmch. Her husband died in 1942.
    She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Reading, and of Indianola Council 70, Pocohontas Independent Order of Red Men. She also was affiliated with the Reading Senior Citizens' Club and the auxiliary to Greater Reading) Post 179, Veterans of Wars.
    Mrs. Cooper is survived by two sons and two daughters: Leon H. Jr. of El Paso. Texas: Gerald, Buffalo, N.Y; Miriam, wife of Ambrose McDonald, Tremont; Fern, wife of Carl Stuber, Sinking Spring RD 6.
    Seven grandchildren survive, as do three brothers and four sisters: William and Albert Minnich, both of Hegins; Charles Minnich, Reading; Miidred, wife of John Felix, Fleetwood RD 3; Myrtle, widow of Howard Stutzman: Ivah, widow of John Hartman, and Beulah. widow of Rufus Klouser, all of Hegins.
    Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Gibson & Sanders Funeral Home. Reading. Additional rites will be conducted in Frieden's Lutheran Church, Hegins, preceding interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Fred R. Foerster and Rev. Ralph W. Bagger will officiate.

    Born in Rebuck May 5, 1869, Mr. Snyder was a son of the late Simon and Lena (Geist) Snyder. A retired farmer and plasterer, Mr. Snyder was a member of the Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck. His wife, Lizzie, died nine years ago.
    Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. William Ross, Roselle, N. J; Mrs. Francis Oxenrider, Mrs. Paul Rebuck, and Mrs. Herbert Bordner, Dornsife, R. D; Mrs. Daniel Klinger, Herndon R. D., and Mrs. Carson Zeiders, Elizabethville; five sons, Edwin and Emory Snyder, Elizabethville; Almond Snyder, Northumberland R. D; Leon C. Snyder, Shamokin R. D., and Wilson Snyder, Dornsife R.     Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in Rothermel Funeral Home. Klingerstown. Further services will be held in Himmel's Lutheran and Reformed Church, Rebuck. Rev.     Jack L. Klinger, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 8, 2022, at Heritage Mills Personal Care Home, Tower City.
    Born in Erdman, November 23, 1945, a son of the late Ray and Elba Tschopp Klinger.
    Jack began his career as a machinist at Brubaker Tool and TRW. He worked for 28 years as a plant manager at Bracalente Manufacturing, Trumbauersville. He then began his own business, Klinger Manufacturing. After retirement and moving to Orwin, he began his own trucking business, Klinger Hauling.
    Jack was literally a "jack-of-all trades." He had the foresight and determination to get things done correctly. He took great pride in renovating his farm homes in the Lehigh Valley, Pillow, and Orwin. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Klinger.
    Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Judy A. Miller Klinger; two daughters, Tammy Trayer and her husband Glen, Idaho and Tara Yohannan, and her husband John, Colorado; two grandchildren, Taylor and Austin Seager; two great grandchildren, Riley and Willow; two brothers, William Klinger, Millersburg, and Ronald Klinger, York; two sisters, Shirley Miller, Sunbury, and Ruth Haupt, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.
