    Riley O. Smeltz, age 68 years, died at his home in Hegins, on Sunday. He was a son of the late John and Hannah (Schwalm) Smeltz.
    Survivors are ' his wife, Mrs. Katie Smeltz, and the following children, Mrs. Clark Huntzinger, Mrs. Harry Artz, Mrs. Charles Huntzinger, Leo and Robert Smeltz, all of Hegins, and Mrs. Richard Strohecker, of Mowery. Other survivors are sixteen grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, Monroe and Emanuel Smeltz, and Mrs., David Snyder, of Valley View, and Daniel Smeltz; of Sacramento.
    Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon with the Rev. C. E. Brodell officiating. Interment will be made in the Lutheran Church Cemetery Hegins.

    He was a 1933 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School.
    Mr. Smeltz was a member of St Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
    Retired, he was employed by Rossini Coal Co. as a dragline operator.
    His first wife, the former Helen Lubold, died in 1965. Surviving are his second wife, the former Iona Ochs Coleman; two sons, Palmer Jr., Fleetwood, and James, St. Peter's, Pa; a daughter, Bette Walter, Pottstown; a stepson, Gary Coleman, Winchester, Ky; three stepdaughters, Carol Holzinger, Lanham, Md., Marcelle Stiely, Klingerstown, and Linda Fetterolf, Hegins area; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; two brothers, Leo, Inderness, Fla., and Robert, Wilmington, Del; two sisters, Alma Huntzinger, Valley View, and Mary Strohecker, Hatboro.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St Andrew's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Donald Fishel will officiate. Interment will be in St Andrew's Cemetery. Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
