    Dean M. Schreck, 76, of Klingerstown, PA and formerly of Sunbury passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    Dean was born in Lewisburg, PA on May 1, 1942, a son of the late Anna (Reamer) and James Schreck.
    He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sandra (Erdman) Schreck; they were married July 31, 1965.
    He was employed as an auto mechanic at Campbell Chevrolet and Leitzels Ford and also operated and was in charge of upkeep of heavy equipment at Henry Martz Construction. He also worked in security for Middleswarth Chips.
    Dean was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready and served as a Deacon on the Consistory. He was also a member of the Moose, VFW and American Legion all of Sunbury.
    He was a lifelong volunteer fireman belonging to numerous fire companies and was proud to have served with the Sunbury Fire Police for 31 years. Dean loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, and vacationing with family especially in the Poconos.
    Dean is also survived by a son, Kevin, husband of Barbara Schreck, of Northumberland; a daughter, Wanda, wife of Robert Cook, of New Castle, DE; five siblings Janette Diehl, of Lewisburg, Carl Schreck, of Mifflinburg, Paul Schreck, of Lewisburg, Debra Sauers, of Mifflinburg and Steven Schreck, of FL; and 5 grandchildren, Shayna, Kevin Joseph, Ashley, Rachel and Lillian.
    He was preceded in death by one brother Gerald Schreck.
    Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 9-11 AM at the Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown, PA with the funeral service following at 11 AM with Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Family and Friends are invited to a meal to celebrate the life of Dean following the interment at Salem Church.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunbury Fire Police 1031 Keller St Sunbury, PA 17801 or Salem Church of Rough and Ready, C/O the memorial fund, 1128 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, PA 17941.

  • By 1910, Elias (60) was a widower living in Coal Township, Northumberland County, where he was working as a butcher in a packing house. His household included 3 sons -- Raymond E. (20) and Harrold J. (16), both laborers in coal mines, Ellwood E. (13) -- his daughter Maud E. Dunmore (29) and son-in-law William L. Dunmore (30).5
