    Lynore K. Buffington, 78, of Tower City, passed away Monday at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    Born in Tower City, Feb. 20, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Ethel Keiser Houtz.
    Lynore was a retired secretary from the comp control center at Fort Indiantown Gap. Following retirement, she was a secretary at the Williams Valley Elementary School.
    She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin. She was an active member of the former Grace E.C. Church, Muir, where she served as the church secretary and also had been the church secretary for the Christ United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glen Chapter, Lykens, and was also a former Girl Scout leader.
    She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Blair, in 2008; a son-in-law, William Jones Jr; brother, Clair D. Houtz; stepsister, Mary Jane Gamble.
    Surviving are her three daughters, Roxanne Jones, Pottsville, Cheryl Carl, Lebanon, and Lynette Klinger and her companion, Kevin Meeker, Florida; three grandchildren, Doug Buffington, Heather Stakem and Daniel Jones; four great-grandchildren, Drew, Avery, Owen and Kade; a stepsister, Violet Schaeffer, Myerstown; nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin, with the Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.     Born in Pottsville, he was a son of William Sr. and Alice Woodford Jones, Minersville.
    Bill was a 1984 graduate of Minersville Area High School. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville. He worked as a mechanic in the construction industry. He was a former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 100, Llewellyn, and helped many boys reach the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and was an advocate for the NRA.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, the former Roxanne Buffington; two sons, Douglas Buffington and his wife, Lori, Muir, and Daniel Jones, at home; a grandchild, Drew; a sister, Deborah Hummel and her husband, Ernest, Minersville.
    A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. The Rev. Christopher Zelonis will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. Interment will be in St. Vincent's No. 2 Cemetery, Minersville. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer remembrances of Bill in the form of contributions to help defray funeral expenses.
