Mrs. Clara M. Erdman, 42, of Herndon, died in Geisinger Hospital, Danville, this morning after an illness of a year and a half during which she had been hospitalized eight times.

Leon Walter Erdman married Clara Amelia Wynn, daughter of Edwin Raymond Wynn and Alma R. Zerbe, circa 1952.1 Leon Walter Erdman died on 4 December 2017, The Gardens at Easton, Easton, Northampton County, PA, at age 85.3

He was 85 years old and was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Trevorton, Pa.
Leon spent his childhood and early years in Herndon, Pa., and attended Mahanoy Joint High School where he played soccer and football.
He then located to Malta, Pa., where he raised his family and remained a lifelong resident.
Leon was retired from the former Creative Playthings, Herndon, PA.
He is survived by three sons, Dennis (Anna), of Woodbridge, Va., Douglas (Mary), of Williamsport, Pa., and Gregory (Judy) Erdman, of Wyckoff, N.J; two brothers, Robert (Martha), of Herndon and James (Ruby), of Sunbury; and a sister in-law, Rena (Wynn) Kessler, of Erdman, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Mae; his parents, Walter William and Clara Mae (Polan); and his wife of 58 years, Clara Amelia (Wynn).
Leon enjoyed antiquing and "flea marketing" with his wife, loved the out of doors and listening to his country music collection. He was an avid hunter earlier in life. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling with family to events and festivals, telling stories and sharing his love of the PA German way of life and dialect.
Leon was blessed with 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends and community.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Luke's UCC Church, Malta. A visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Lukes UCC Church, 837 Mahantango Creek Road, Dalmatia, PA 17017.

William Reilly Schwalm is also referred to as William Reily Schwalm in some sources.6,5 He was born on 12 September 1886, Rough and Ready, Schuylkill County, PA.7,3 He was the son of Albert Peter Schwalm and Mary Paul.4,5 Some sources record that William Reilly Schwalm was born on 30 September 1886, Rough and Ready, Schuylkill County, PA.6 He was baptized on 22 April 1888, Salem Lutheran and Refomed Church Cemetery, Rough and Ready, Schuylkill County, PA.5 Other sources record that William Reilly Schwalm was born on 12 September 1888.5 Some sources suggest that William was the son of Albert's wife Barbara Clark, but she would have been about 12 years old when he was born. Baptismal records at Salem Church in Rough and Ready clearly list Albert and "May" [i.e., Mary] Paul" as William's parents. William's obituary lists his mother as "Mary [Paul] Erdman."5,8 At the time of the 1900 Census, William, then 13 years old was not living in the household of his father Peter and wis wife Barbara but rather in the household of Judith Erdman and her daughter Myrah, Williams grandmother. William was listed as a "grandson."9 He married Alma Sarah Coleman, daughter of Daniel Alfred Coleman and Ida Salara Koppenhaver, in 1906.2,10,8 William Reilly Schwalm died on 23 January 1969, Spring Glen, Schuylkill County, PA, at age 82.11

Mr. Schwalm was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and Sunday School, Spring Glen and a charter mem ber of Sprine Glen Redmen's Lodge.
Surviving are his wife and the following children, Mae, wife of Henry Frye, Jonestown, RD; Hilda, wife of Stanley Harner, Valley View; James, Tower City; Elva, wife of Morris Huntzinger, Valley View; Eva wife of Edward L. Beury, Ashland; Leroy, Mechanicsburg, RD4; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two half brothers, David Engle and John Erdman, Klingerstown, RD Three 1 sons receded him in death, one in infancy; Charles in 1948 and Raymond in 1966.

He was born, July 31, 1909, a son of the late Albert and Barbara Clark Schwalm. He was married to Mildred Rothermel Schwalm, who survives.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul of Valley View, Mark of Spring Glen Star Route, and Roy of Broad Channel, N. Y; a brother, Guy of Klingerstown RD; two sisters, Meda of Valley View, and Tillie of Klingerstown RD; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, by the Rev. Merlin Sjoberg. Burial will be in Klinger's Cemetery, Erdman. Friends may call in the Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

John A. Schwalm, age 54 years, of Klingerstown R. D., died in a Pottsville hospital on Saturday.
A son of the late Albert and Barbara (Clark) Schwalm, he was born at Klingerstown January 25, 1907.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Lykens Township, and the Klingerstown Fire Company.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Klinger Schwalm; four children, Mrs. William Lentz of Dalmatia R. D; Lawrence, of Elizabethville; Leroy, of Klingerstown, and Norma, at home; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Walter Schwalm of Klingerstown R. D; Ira Schwalm, of Spring Glen; and four sisters, Mrs. Harlan Heim of Dornsife, R. D; Miss Tillie Schwalm, Klingerstown R. D., Mrs. Jacob Schlegel and Mrs. William Schwalm both of Valley View.
Services were held from Zion United Church of Christ at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday af ternoon. The pastor, Rev. Joseph Heiney officiated and interment was made in the church cemetery.

Gurney G. Schwalm, 47, of Dornsife R.D., died on Monday 12:30 a.m. in his home. He had been in ill health since December.
Mr. Schwalm was born in the Klingerstown R D. area on Jan. 14. 1912, a son of the late Albert and Barbara Clark Schwalm.
Employed in the steel mills at Steelton, he was a member of Zion's United Church of Christ, Erdman, Lykens, R.D., and the Klingerstown Fire Co. No. 1 of Klingerstown.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are. his wife, the former Florence Borkoskie: two children: James 18 months and Susan, two montns: four sisters: Mrs. William Schwalm and Mrs. Jacob Schlegel, both of Valley View; Mrs. Harlan Heim of Dornsife R. D; Tillie Schwalm, of Klingestown R.D; three brothers: John Schwalm and Walter Schwalm, both of Klingerstown. R D; and Ira of Spring Glen.
Funeral Thursday afternoon from Zion United Church of Christ at Erdman. Interment will be made in adjoining Church cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Heiney of Lykens will officiate at services. Lawrence Rothermel Home of Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
