HERNDON -- Gurney R. Troutman, 82, of Herndon RD, died Thursday in the Mansion Nursing Home, Sunbury.
Mr. Troutman was of Protestant faith.
Born In Herndon RD, June 9, 1896, be was a son of the late Henry L. and Angela Tobias Troutman.
Surviving are two sons, Nevin R. and Allen H. Troutman, both of Herndon RD; four granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alvin Klinger of Millersburg.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, by the Rev. Mark Weaver of Berrysburg. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, near pillow.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from noon until the time of the service.²

HERNDON -- Lee R. Smeltz, 65. of R.D. 1, died Saturday at 5:10 p.m. in the Sunbury Community Hospital, where he was a patient since June 9.
Born in Washington Township, January 19, 1907, Mr. Smeltz was a son of the late Robert and Gertie (Adam) Smeltz.
Mr. Smeltz was married September 20, 1924, to the former Gertie Latsha, who survives. He was employed by Meckley's Limestone Quarry, Mandata, until his retirement in January of this year. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation at Himmel's Lutheran and Reformed Church, Rebuck; was a past guard of the Odd Fellows Lodge 551, Dornsife, and a member of the Herndon Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to the widow are three daughters, Mrs. Arlene Lenig, Trexlertown; Mrs. Marie Williard, Herndon, and Mrs. Charlotte Ann Ferster, Dornsife R.D.I; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and the following half-brothers and sisters: Clarence Smeltz, Raymond Smeltz, Mrs. Irene Latshaw, and Mrs. Gladys Latsha, Dornsife R.D. 1; Mrs. Stella Rebuck, Herndon R.D. 1; Richard Hornberger, Washington, and Roger Hornberger, Baltimore, Md.²

Gertie M. Smeltz Gertie M. Smeltz, 85, Herndon, died Sunday morning at Sunbury Community Hospital, where she had been a patient in its Skilled Nursing Care Unit since February 1992.
Born in RD1 Dornsife, Washington Township, May 23, 1907, she was a daughter of the late John and Agnes Smith Latsha. She was educated in Washington Township schools.
She was a member of Himmels United Church of Christ Church, Rebuck, Ladies Aid of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Red Cross, and a charter member of Idella Rebekah Lodge 58, Dornsife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee R., on July 22, 1972, and three brothers, Samuel A. and William I. Latsha and one in infancy.
Surviving are three daughters, Arlene Lenig, Northumberland, Marie Williard, Herndon, and Charlotte Ferster, RD1 Dornsife; a sister, Verna Bordner, Herndon; a brother, Fred E. Latsha, Sunbury; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in HimmeLs UCC with the Rev. Dr. John Conz, her pastor, and Glenn B. Keidel, Lutheran pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Himmels Cemetery, Rebuck. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RD1 Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Erdman, where she woprked as a servant.⁷ As of 1902,her married name was Erdman.⁸ Mary Paul married George E. Erdman in 1902.^8,9

Mrs. Mary Erdman, 75, died this morning at 1 o'clock at the home of Oscar Todd, Klingerstown R. D., following a three months' illness.
Mrs. Erdman, who was born November 6, 1867, was the widow of Israel Erdman, who died 20 years ago. She was a lifelong resident of that area and resided for the past 15 years at the home of Mr. Todd. She was for many years a member of the Salem Church at Rough and Ready.
Surviving are her children, William Schwalm, Spring Glen; David Engle, Klingerstown, and Harry and John Erdman, Pitman.
Arrangements for the funeral services will be made this evening.

It might have been the Emanuel Paul who was born 27 May 1849 in Hegins, Schuylkill County, PA, and who died 16 Aug 1873 and was married to Catherine Margaret Ney (1852-1935).³

     Elmyra Elizabeth Erdman is also referred to as Ellenmaria Erdman in some sources.^2,3 Elmyra Elizabeth Erdman is also referred to as Myrah in some sources. Her married name was Paul.⁴ She was born on 22 December 1851.^5,3 Emanuel Paul and Elmyra Elizabeth Erdman had a relationship, but no marriage records were found for them.⁶ She died on 10 March 1928, Urban, Northumberland County, PA, at age 76.³ She was buried on 14 March 1928, at Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Rough and Ready, Schuylkill County, PA.³

Ellenmaria Erdman, died at the nome ot wm. Heintzleman near Klingerstown on Saturday, March 10, following an illness with tuberculosis, aged 76 years, 2 months and 18 day. She was bedfast about one week. Deceased was born Dec 22, 1851.
Surviving are one son Edward Engle, of Rough and Ready, and one daughter Mrs. Mary Erdmnan of Hepler.
Funeral services were held from her late home Wednesday forenoon with services in the Rough and Ready church by the Rev. D.E. Fetterolf. Interment was in the Rough and Ready cemetery.
