Jacob H. Smeltz, 82, a native of Washington Township, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Lenig, Lower Augusta Township, Sunbury R. D. 3, following a lingering illness.
Born in Washington Township December 18, 1878, Mr. Smeltz was a son of the late Jacob, and Barbara (Hoffa) Smeltz. He was engaged in farming for many years until his retirement several years ago. His wife, the former Minnie Keefer, preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons and four daughters, Clarence, Walla Walla, Wash; Wilson, Fisher's Ferry, Lloyd, Herndon R. D; Mrs. Ida Matter, Millersburg R. D; Mrs. Cora Lenig, Sunbury R. D. 3; Mrs. Mabel Zartman, Dornsife R. D., and Mrs. Meda Gottshall, Shamokin R. D.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 in the Reformed Church, Red Cross Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. J. M. Singer, Herndon, will officiate. Friends may call at the Rothermel Funeral Home, Herndon, this evening and at the Red Cross church from noon tomorrow until time of the service.

Mrs. Minnie Sarah Smeltz, 56, wife of Jacob Smeltz, Red Cross, died at 10 p. m. Sunday from a complication of ailments after an illness of several years.
Surviving are her husband and nine children Kenneth, Leck Kill; Mrs. Ida Mottern, Trevotron; Mrs. Charles Lenig, Sunbury, R. D. 1; Mrs. Mable Zartman, Dornsife; Andrew, Wilson Leroy, Richard, all of Red Cross; Mrs. Meda [G]ottshall Mechanicsburg, eleven grandchildren, and two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday in the Red Cross Reformed Church. Rev. Elias Noll, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Red Cross cemetery.

Boyer married Dean F. Zartman, son of Jay Frederick Zartman and Amanda Pauline Michael.¹ Lucille S. Boyer died on 9 March 2017, Nottingham Village, Northumberland, Northumberland County, PA, at age 75.²

Lucille S. Zartman, 75, of Sunbury, PA passed away on March 9, 2017 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, PA. She was born in Sunbury on March 2, 1942 the daughter of John and Elsie Gladys (Smith) Boyer.
Lucille attended local schools receiving her GED. She married Dean F. Zartman, Sr. Lucille’s favorite thing to do was cook, it was her career and she loved to cook for her loving family. She was a foster grandmother. She loved her pet dog “Sassy.”
Lucille is survived by her sons Dean F. and wife Tina Zartman of Centralia, KS, Jay and wife Taffi Zartman of Sunbury, grandchildren Dawn and husband Christopher Blewett, Karee Zartman, Evelyn Johnston and Grace Johnston, sisters Betty and Lydia Boyer both of Northumberland, brother Ralph Boyer of Tamaqua, sister-in-law Crissie Boyer of Northumberland, nieces and nephews: Steven Boyer, Juanita Boyer, Col. Jeffrey Boyer, James Boyer, Deb Tipler, Colin Boyer, Glenn Boyer and Chris Boyer.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and John Boyer and nephew Michael.
Friends and family may visit at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA. on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11 am. Interment is at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.
