The funeral of James Daniel Schwalm, 67, of 231 W. Grand Ave., Tower City, who died Friday morning at his home, will take place Monday morning from the Stewart J. Dreisigacker Jr. Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. James Houpt officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Schwalm was the son of the late William and Alma Coleman Schwalm. He was a retired miner. He was a life member of the Sheridan Fire Company.
A brother, Raymond, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his widow, the former Mary Lenker; two daughters, Jane, at home, and Mrs. Betty Weist of Pillow; three sons, James, Wiconisco, Ronald and Gary, both of Tower City; two stepdaughters, Rosanne Bair, Williamstown, Cathy Monger, Tower City; seven grandchildren; six stepgrand-children; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Berry, Ashland, Mrs. Elva Huntzinger and Mrs. Hilda Harner, both of Valley View and Mrs. Mae Frey, Orwin.

Eva Elmira Beury, 101 years, of Ashland passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday morning, February 19, 2023.
Born July 23, 1921, in Spring Glen to the late William R. and S. Alma (Coleman) Schwalm, Eva graduated from Hubley High School in 1939.
She owned and operated the Beury Insurance Agency in Ashland from 1967 to 1988. She was an extremely active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, especially in the choir, WELCA, quilting, and the alter guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Lamar Beury, her daughter, Alyce E. Klock, and her seven siblings, Mae Frye, Ray Schwalm, Hilda Harner, James Schwalm, Elva Huntzinger, Leroy Schwalm, Charles Schwalm, and their spouses.
Left to treasure Eva’s memory are her grandchildren, Kathy Rowe (Daniel) and Ken Klock (Jennifer), and her son-in-law Fred Klock (Carol).
Eva is also survived by her seven great grandchildren, Timothy Rowe (Stephanie), Benjamin Rowe, Elizabeth Rowe, Sean Klock, Timothy Klock, Mason Klock, and Emily Klock.
She will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family who loved her dearly.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd from 6:00-9:00 PM and Thursday, February 23rd from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, February 23rd at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Christ Church Cemetery-Fountain Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eva Beury’s memory to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 35 N 9th St, Ashland PA 17921.

LeRoy W. Schwalm, 90, of Silver Spring Township, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by his family. Born in Spring Glen, Oct. 31, 1923, he was a son of the late Mae Schwalm Fry. He was raised by his grandparents, William "Bill" and Alma Coleman Schwalm.
LeRoy served in the Army Air Force as a flight officer, serving as a bombardier/navigator on B-17 aircraft. He retired from the Navy Fleet Material Support Office (FMSO) in Mechanicsburg, as a budget analyst supervisor, after more than 40 years of federal service.
He was an active member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle Springs, where he served for many years on the consistory, taught the adult Sunday school class and served as church school superintendent. He also served as treasurer for the Mercersburg Association of the United Church of Christ for many years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 109, NARFE 1816, Mechanicsburg, Members 1st FCU Senior Citizens Coffee Corner and Mechanicsburg Sportsmen's Association.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Christopher Seiff.
Remaining to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce Dunkelberger Schwalm; son, Vaughn LeRoy Schwalm, Pine Grove; daughter, Holly Joyce Schwalm, Mechanicsburg; three granddaughters, Jennifer D. Schwalm, Tricia D. Carbaugh and Sarah J. Baer; four great-grandchildren, Abigayle Hurley, Tyler Buchenauer, Maci Carbaugh and Haylee Baer; loving sister, Eva Beury, Ashland; two half brothers, Marlin and Edward Fry; and two half sisters, Doris Frankenstein and Marlene Jenkins.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's UCC, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 and/or Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Dunkleberger married LeRoy W. Schwalm, son of Henry David Fry and Erma Mae Schwalm, circa 1946, Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, Schuylkill County, PA.4,5 Joyce J. Dunkleberger died on 2 March 2018, Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, PA, at age 85.2

Joyce J. Schwalm, 85, of Silver Spring Township, passed away Friday at home, surrounded by her family.
Born April 19, 1932, in Hegins, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Carrie Yoder Dunkelberger.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, LeRoy W. Schwalm; four sisters; a great-grandson.
Surviving to celebrate her life are a son, Vaughn LeRoy Schwalm, Pine Grove; a daughter, Holly Joyce Schwalm, Mechanicsburg; three granddaughters, Jennifer D. Schwalm, Tricia D. Carbaugh and Sarah J. Price; four great-grandchildren, Abigayle Hurley, Tyler Buchenauer, Maci Carbaugh and Haylee Baer.
A memorial service will be held at noon March 24 at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle, with Pastor Timothy P. Dugan officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. March 24 until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. Fry married Theodore Jess Frankenstein, son of George Thomas Frankenstein and Marie Grandy, on 8 February 1947, Immaculate Conception Rectory, Tremont, Schuylkill County, PA.1,5 Doris L. Fry died on 26 September 2022, Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, PA, at age 95.2

Doris L. Frankenstein, 95, of Joliett, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Doris was born in Spring Glen on October 22, 1926 a daughter of the late Henry and Erma Mae Schwalm Fry.
She was a retired seamstress from the garment industry.
She was a member of Most Blessed Trinity Parish, Tremont and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She enjoyed being outside, taking care of her yard, sewing, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Frankenstein, 2001; a daughter, Jane Blough, 1992; sisters Shirley Hubert and Anna Mae Gongloff; brothers Leroy Schwalm and Marlin Frye.
Surviving are her children, Carol Gibson and her husband Lloyd, Muir, G. Thomas Frankenstein and his wife Peggy, Tower City, and Susan Gibson and her husband Jesse, Tower City; a sister, R. Marlene Jenkins and her husband Joe, Williamstown; a brother Edward Fry and his wife Sharon, Jonestown; a son-in-law, Oscar Blough, Pine Grove; a sister-in-law, Rose Frye, Palmyra; an aunt, Eva Beury, Ashland; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10-11 am Tuesday at the chapel.

Theodore "Jess" Frankenstein, 78, of Main Street, Joliett, died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 1, 1923, he was a son of the late George and Marie Grandy Frankenstein.
He was an Army vet eran of World War II.
He was self-employed as a miner and then employed on construction for Rissinger Brothers Construction, Carlisle.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Tremont.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Blough; three sisters, Olive Evans, Viola Frankenstein and Rita Leahy.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Doris Frye; a son, Thomas, Tower City; two daughters, Carol Gibson, Muir, and Susan Gibson, Tower City; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Claire Potaro, Clarksburg, W.Va., and Loretta Martin, Harrisburg.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. James Burdess will officiate. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blough was a secretary at Schuylkill County Intermediate Unit 29, Mar Lin.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Tremont.
