    Lorraine Deitrich Oldham, 70, of 1423 W. Main St., Valley View, passed away Tuesday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
    She was born May 3, 1946, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Harry and Laura Troutman Deitrich.
    She graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1964 and received degrees from West Chester University and Clarion College.
    She first worked as a teacher at North Schuylkill School District and the balance of her career was at the Upper Dauphin School District. During her career she taught primarily English and German and had also taught Russian. Upon retiring from teaching, she was employed as the librarian at the Tri-Valley Public Library and retired at the end of 2015.
    Lorraine was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, and was involved with the choir.
    She was also a member of the Rotary, TOPS, the Red Hat Society and was active with the Friends of the Tri-Valley Library.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Oldham, in 2005; a brother, David Deitrich.
    She is survived by three stepdaughters, C. Noelle Petrasic and her husband, Craig, Campbelltown, Laura Michelle Hercher and her husband, Joshua, Harrisburg, and Ilene Danielle Swartz and her husband, Doug Jr., Enola; four grandchildren, Sydney and Laura Petrasic, and Konrad and Jocelyn Hercher; sister-in-law, Hilda Deitrich; nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, with the Rev. Michael Klahr officiating. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., Valley View. There will also be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be made in St. Andrews Cemetery, Valley View. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tri-Valley Public Library, 633 E. Main St., Hegins, PA 17938.     Irene Mary Shadle, 94, of Valley View, died Oct. 9 at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.
    Born in Mahantongo Valley, June 7, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles S. Deitrich and Mary Ann Brosius Deitrich.
    In 1935, she married Howard W. Troutman, Valley View. Together they founded and operated Troutman's Greenhouse until his death in 1954. In 1968, she married Fred E. Shadle, Valley View, who preceded her in death in 1999. Together they managed his farm while she worked at the Valley View Enterprises garment factory, retiring in 1980.
    Irene is survived by her sons, Kenneth C. Troutman and Carl L. Troutman; by Kenneth's son, Christopher R. Troutman; by Chris's daughter, Kyra A. Troutman; and by her sister, Maude Murphy and husband, James Murphy.
    Irene was a kind, generous person and a valued member of her community. She excelled at gardening and floral arrangements and practiced both for most of her life.
    She was an active member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and volunteered both her culinary and floral skills for many events. She was also actively involved with the Pine Grove Chapter of the Eastern Star.
    Interment will be in the Church of God Cemetery in Hegins, beside her first husband, Howard. Graveside services will be private for her immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, PO Box 221, Valley View, PA 17983. Auer Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, was in charge.

    FOUNTAIN - Douglas Kenneth Troutman, 79 of Fountain, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at home. Doug was born on June 3, 1941 at Hershey Hospital, Hershey, PA. He was the son of the late Elvin and Mildred (Savidge) Troutman. Doug graduated in 1959 from Central Dauphin High School, Harrisburg, PA. He worked at the Hershey Creamery Dairy located on Cameron Street, Harrisburg while attending Lebanon Valley College. He later graduated with his Master's Degree in music education from the University of Michigan. Doug was a music teacher in the York School District after graduation from the University of Michigan and then taught music in an elementary school in Stamford, Connecticut retiring at the age of 55. He was an accomplished pianist and organist. Doug was one of the founding members of Men in Harmony, a central PA's premier Christian Men's Chorus, which began its music ministry in June of 2000, and he served the group as pianist for many years. Doug served on the board of the Mt. Gretna Bible Festival where he helped to organize the summer concert series. He was instrumental in inviting and arranging for many well-known composers to come and lead the Massed Choir of the Mt. Gretna Tabernacle Association, Inc. He served on the Board of the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble of Schuylkill County, and he enjoyed attending the New York Philharmonic concerts with his friends. Doug was a former member of the Derry Street United Methodist Church in Harrisburg where he served as organist, and was also a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Fountain where he played the piano and organ accompanying the church choir. Doug enjoyed traveling to many places here in the United States and visited many countries throughout Europe. Doug was a kind and generous person who shared his faith through his musical talents and time dedicated to the church and the various groups for which he volunteered. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Among Doug's survivors are many cousins, and many friends who include Gerald Hawks, James Potter, and Linda Sult. There will be a graveside service at Christ UCC Cemetery, Fountain, PA on Wednesday, November 18th at 2:00 PM with The Rev. Dr. Nathan Corl Minnich officiating. Due to restrictions of gathering size, there will be a memorial concert planned at a later date according to Doug's wishes.     He was born in Ashland Hospital, Nov. 16, 1937, a son of the late Bruce Troutman and Orpha Snyder. He lived the past 57 years in Atlas, and also lived in Pitman for a period of time.
    He wa a graduate of Tri-Valley High School in Hegins.
    Ronald was married Oct. 24, 1956, to the former Josephine (Babe) Escanez, who survives in Atlas.
    He worked as an auto mechanic and service manager, and he was last employed at B & L in Shamokin.
    He was a member of Zion Methodist Church, Pitman. He was also a member of the Woodman of the World and National Rifle Association,
    He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, model railroading, baseball, cars, camping and spending time with his family, to which he was dedicated. He was also an avid Phillies fan.
    In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by a daughter, Debora Troutman, of Atlas; two sons, Jim Troutman and his wife, Toni, of Atlas, and Rod Troutman and his wife, Dawn, of Mowry; four grandchildren, Quentin, Cassie, Dylan and Megan Troutman; a sister, Phyliss Mervine and her husband, Rodger, of Pitman, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He is also survived by two cats, Paws and Spook.
    A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CJ Lucas Funeral Home, 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Todd Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday in the funeral home. CJ Lucas IV, supervisor, has charge of the arrangements.

    Pottsvllle. Pa , Oct. 19. (U.P) John G. Romberger, fifty-seven, a director of the Valley View Bank. Valley View, closed today by the State Banking De partment, committed suicide at his home, authorities announced today.
    Romberger's suicide followed closing of the bank, but officials found no direct connection between the two occurrences.
    He asphyxiated himself by inhaling carbon monoxide gas from his automobile engine left running in a tightly closed garage.

    Refusing to face the disgrace of his bank: being closed by state order, J. G. Romberger, a director of the Valley View State Bank yesterday started his motor running in a closed garage and calmly waited for death. When found later by his wife he had expired from the effects of the deadly carbon-monoxide thrown off .by the motor.
    The Valley View State Bank closed Saturday at 1:00, and it is believed by the dead man's friends that he could not bring himself to face depositors In the little town. The bank was the only one In the town, and was hard hit by the closing down of the colliery, where many of the residents were employed. Officers of the bank are Clyde [Clayton] E. Herb, president; J. W. Dunkelberger, vice president, and Allen W. Schmeltz, cashier.

    Vernon Edward Romberger, 81, Valley View, died Tuesday at the Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Reading, where he had been a guest for some time.
    Mr. Romberger was born in Valley View, July 17, 1898, a son of the late John G. and Amelia Wolfgang Romberger. He was a retired farmer, school bus driver for the Hegins Township School District and truck driver.
    He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and served on the church board for at least 30 years. He was also superintendent of the parish Sunday school and teacher of the men's Bible class for about 25 years. Church records indicate he did not miss a single Sunday service in 40 years.

    Surviving are two daughters, Erma, wife of Dr. Joseph Gable, Reading, Betty, wife of Theodore Maurer, Hegins; four grandchildren; four great -grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Hanley, Richardson, Texas, Mrs. Leona Miller, Valley View; one brother, Charles Romberger, Reinerton.
    Services will be held Saturday morning from St.' Andrew's Church, with the Rev. Leland Keemer officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Arthur R. Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

    Born in Valley View, Aug. 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late John G. and Amelia Wolfgang Romberger. She was a 1933 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School and a graduate of the former Pottsville Beauty Culture School.
    She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, Tri-Valley Senior Citizens, the Gratz and Tri-Valley historical societies, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the former Order of Eastern Star Tremont Lodge.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Harry Miller, in 1968; four brothers, Paul, Vernon, Arland and Charles Romberger; two sisters Ellen Brown and Hannah Henley.
    Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn A. Atkinson, Ravenswood, W.Va., and Mary Ellen Krammes, Valley View; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Reynolds will officiate. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Andrew's Cemetery. The family requests donations to St. Andrew's United Methodist Women, Missionary Fund, P.O. Box 221, Valley View, PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.4
