They had been married 25 years and had given birth to 9 children, 6 of whom were then living. Charles was a farmer.4

  • He was the son of Samuel Klinger and Magdalena Klinger.
  • Gabriel Klinger married Clara Milissa Wolf, daughter of Henry H. Wolf and Hannah E. Yordy, on 28 August 1881, Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, PA.2
  • In 1910, Gabriel and Clara were living on a farm in Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, with 5 of their 17 children -- Emma E., 15, Alice E., 14, John Frazer, 11, Ellen M., 8, and James R., 3. Although they had 17 children, only 12 were then living.3
  • By 1920, Gabriel and Clara's household was along Seven Points Road, Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, and included only their youngest son James and Gabriel's unmarried sister Catharine (age 62).4
  • At the time of the 1930 Census, Gabriel, who was widowed, was living with his son James and his family in Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County.5

    Gabriel Klinger, 86, retired farmer, died yesterday in the home of his son, John F. Klinger, Seven Points, following a long illness from a complication.
    Klinger was a native of the rural area and for more than half a century was a successful farmer in the Seven Points area. He retired several years ago because of impaired health. His wife preceded him in death 12 years ago.
    Surviving are the following children: Samuel Lloyd, of Norwood, near Philadelphia; Henry Rolling, of Allentown; Irvin, of Towanda; Clyde, of Berwick; Mrs. Grover Wynn, of Iowa; Mrs, Alice Specht, of Middleburg; Mrs. George Wynn, of Buffalo; James, of Kratzerville, and John Frazier, of Seven Points. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive, as well as one brother, Peter, of Seven Points, and one sister, Mrs. Isabel Shipe, of Williamsport.
    In the latter part of his life he was actively affiliated with Wolfe Cross Roads Church.
    Funeral arrangements have been deferred pending arrival of the family from distant places.

  • He married Carrie E. Fausold, daughter of Elias Fausold and Lydia Hepner, on 28 September 1890, Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, PA.1,5
  • At the time of the 1900 Census, Peter and Carrie were living in Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, PA, where Peter was a "dairyman." They had been married 10 years and had 4 children: Leona (9); Ammon (7); Oscar (3); and Florence (10 months).6
  • In 1910, the Census for Rockefeller Township listed Peter as a farm laborer. He and Carrie's household included 5 children: Oscar (12); Florence (10); Homer (8); W. Stanley (6); and Paul (3 months).7

    Retired Farmer Dies in Residence
    Peter L. Klinger, 90, Seven Points, a retired farmer and thresher, died at 9:45 this morning in his home after an illness of five weeks.
    A lifelong resident of the Seven Points area, Mr. Klinger was born September 7, 1870, a son of the late Samuel and Mary Klinger. He operated a threshing outfit for many years.
    Mr. Klinger was a member of the Wolfe's Crossroads Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Rockefeller Grange. His wife, the former Carrie Fasold, died June 15, 1940, after a marital union just short of 50 years.
    Surviving are five sons, Ammon Klinger, Waynesboro; Oscar, Sunbury; Homer, Sunbury R. D., and Stanley and Paul, at home; 20 grandchildren and a number of great-grand and great-great grandchildren. He was the last member of his original family.
    Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Wirt Funeral Home, Cliftmont. The Rev. Cleo Leitzel pastor of Wolfe's Crossroads Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening.

    Claude E. Klinger, 86, of Sunbury RD2, died at his homeoin Saturday. He had been in ill health the past year.
    A retired, self employed route salesman he started working for the A&P Tea Co. in 1909 and continued in that capacity for a number of years until he formed his own tea company. He continued in business until his retirement in 1953.
    In addition to his route sales he was also engaged in the farming business. He was married to the former Anna E. Fisher, and this past April they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
    For over 50 vears he was a member of the Albirght United Methodist Church, Sunbury, and also Maclay Lodge 632 F&AM Sunbury.
    He was born in Sunbury, Nov. 29. 1882, a son of the late Samuel E. and Harriet I. Dunkelberger Klinger.
    Survivors in addition to his widow include one son, Paul E. Klinger, Sunbury, and two daughters, Peggy, wife of Robert E. Kitchen, Denver, Colo., and Ruth, wife of Albert Heath, Sunbury; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Levan, Miss Emma Klinger, and Mrs. Mabel Lepley, all of Sunbury: seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held from the Ernest Korten Jr. funeral home, 1309 Susquehanna Ave . Sunbury, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Th[e] Rev. William H. Moyer, his pastor will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Clyde F. Whary, pastor of the Stonington Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Friends will be received .this evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Maclay Lodge 632 F&AM will conduct Masonic services at the funeral home at 9 o'clock tonight.

    Samuel L. Kllnger, 68, who two weeks ago moved from Folcroft to 90 Elmwood av. Glenolden, died there Friday morning.
    Mr. Kllnger was born in 1883 at Dornsise [Dornsife], Pa., and in 1905 married the former Charlotte Wetzler at Sunbury. He was employed as a cloth inspector at the Eddystone Print Works and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Folcroft.
    Survivors include his wife, a son, John, of Crum Lynne; two daughters, Mrs. W. Albert McFann, of Folcroft and Mrs. Grace Krapt, of Glenolden; six grandchildren, four sisters and five brothers.
    The funeral will be from St. John's Lutheran Church at 1.30 p.m. Monday, with burial in Arlington Cemetery. The viewing will be Sunday evening at the Griffith Chapel, Norwood.

    Lloyd S. Klinger Dies In Glenolden
    Lloyd S. Klinger, who left Sunbury about 40 years ago, died at his home, 90 Elwood avenue. Glenolden, Friday, at 3:30 a. m., from the effects of a heart attack suffered Thursday morning. He had been in ill health for some time.
    The son of Gabriel and Clara Wolf Klinger, he was born at Dornsife, November 30, 1883, and was reared in the vicinity of Sunbury. He was well known as a musician and played for some time in the City Band as a clarinetist. He was employed at the Susquehanna Silk Mill under Superintendent Klerx, and continued as a textile worker at Glenolden.
    Survivors include his wife, the former Charlotte Wetzel; one son, John; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Krapp and Mrs. Miriam Fann; and five grandchildren. He also leaves five brothers: A twin, Rolland, Allentown; Irvin, Towanda;Clyde, Berwick; John F., Sunbury R. D. 2; and James K., Selinsgrove R.D. 1; these sisters: Mrs. George Wynn, Angola, N. Y; Mrs. Grover Wynn, ElMonte, Caul; Mrs. Alice Specht, Middleburg R. D. 3; Mrs. C. C. Bartholomew, Highland avenue; an uncle, P. L. Klinger, Seven Points; and an aunt, Mrs. Isabel Shive, Schnectady, N. Y.
    Burial will be at Glenolden.

    Henry R. Klinger, 85. of 1851 Southwest 31st St., Allentown, Lower Mahanoy native, died Sunday at Allntown Hospital.
    He was a charter member of Trinity Memorial Church, Allentown. Mr. Klinger was married to the former Sally M. Zartman. The couple observed their 65th wedding anniversary this month.
    Mr. Klinger was born in Northumberland County, a son of the late Gabriel and Clara Wolfe Klinger. He resided in Allentown since 1912.
    Survivors in addition to his widow include three daughters, two sons, a brother, James Klinger, of Kratzerville; two sisters, including Mrs. Alice Spacht, Sunbury, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
    Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. from the Trexler funeral home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown. There will be no visitation.9
