    Rev. Curtis Campbell Klinger, age 85 years, of Holland Twp., N.J., died Friday, April 10, 1998, at his home following a lengthy illness.
    Born September 17, 1912 in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Oliver and Lillian Adelund Klinger.
    Rev. Klinger was a 1934 graduate of Columbia University School of Business and for a time was employed by the Oildom Publishing Co. where he founded FUEL OIL NEWS. He entered and graduated from the New York Theological Seminary in 1944. He was then minister of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Irvington for over 35 years (1944-1979) and was pastor Emeritus of the church. Redeemer Lutheran Church was the result of a merger between St. Johns' Lutheran Church of Newark, N.J., St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Irvington and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newark, N.J. Under his ministry, the church grew from 60 to over 800 members.
    Surviving Rev. Klinger are his wife of 52 years, Mary Harman-Ashley Klinger; 2 sons, Curtis Klinger, Jr., of Mendham, N.J., and John Oliver Klinger of Stroudsburg; a brother, John C. Klinger of Dowelltown, Tenn; and 5 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers, Harlan and Oliver C. Klinger, Jr.
    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 1998, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Prospect and 41st Streets, Irvington, N.J. Family graveside services were held in Klinger's Church Cemetery, Klingerstown, Pa., on Wednesday, April 15, 1998.
    The family requests that memorials in his name be made to the Memorial Fund of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Irvington, N.J., which he founded.

    He was born in Spring Glen, July 23, 1930, a son of the late Harry and Alice Williams Shade.
    He was a 1949 graduate of the former Hubley Township High School.
    He served in the 81st Mortar Platoon in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
    He retired as a pressman for the New Cumberland Army Depot.
    He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento. He was also a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View, Harrisburg Consistory Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Millersburg Forest 125 and Gratz VFW Post 2385.
    After having a left ventricular assist device implanted in January 2008, Charlie was selected as an ambassador for Thoratec Corp. , the manufacturer of the device.
    He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifelong fan of the Phillies and Penn State football. One of Charlie's greatest passions was meticulously manicuring his lawn.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph Shade, Daniel Shade, Kenneth Shade and Junior Shade; two sisters, Olive Herb and Beatrice Shade.
    He is survived by his wife, Carol L. Klinger Shade, to whom he was married for 54 years; two daughters, Melanie A. Yeager and her husband, Doug, Millersburg, and Susan D. Kashmere and her husband, Joe, Harrisburg; a son, Scott C. Shade and his companion, Shana E. Fulk, New Cumberland; two granddaughters, Lindsey Yeager, Millersburg, and Kristine Kashmere, Pittsburgh; two grandsons, Derek Yeager, Millersburg, and Jonathan Kashmere, Harrisburg.
    Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, with the Rev. Raymond Holland officiating.     Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon for Harry Sylvester Shade, 78, Spring Glen, who died in Good Samaritan Hospital here Friday morning. Mr. Shade had been admitted as medical patient Thursday afternoon.
    Services will be from the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, with susbesquent services in St. Paul's Church at which pastor Rev. Richard C. Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Sacramento.
    Born in Hubley Twp., on February 12, 1882, Mr. Shade was the son of the late Henry and Martha Wolf Shade. He had been a farmer in recent years but prior to the closing of Williamstown Colliery he had worked in the mines for 38 years.
    He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sacramento. His wife, the former Alice Williams, of Spring Glen, died in 1949.
    Surviving are: Harry L. Shade, Gratz; Mrs. Charles A. Herb, Daniel Shade, Junior Shade, all of Spring [G]len ,and Charles Shade, Sacramento.
    Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henna Urnholtz, Gratz, and Mrs. Maude Hoke, Spring Glen; and a brother Lawrence Shade, Valley View.
