    Lester L. Deiter
    Lester L. Deiter, 46, of 247 Reed St., Reading, a native of Valley View, died Saturday night in Lebanon Veteran's Hospital. He had been a patient one month.
    Mr. Deiter was a son' of Irene (Klinger) Deiter Klopp of Reading and the late Leon Deiter. An Army veteran of World War II, he, had been employed by the Pennypacker Auction Centre, Kenhorst, last working in 1971.
    Surviving in addition to his mother and his widow, the former Edith M. Borelli, are a son Dennis of Denver; five daughters, Margaret, wife of Ronald Kriner of Reading; Kathryn, wife of George Bortz Jr: of Charleston, S.C; Lisa, at home, and Janice, wife of Roger Hummel and Jean, wife of William Morris, both of Hegins, and nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning from the Theo. C. Auman, Inc. funeral home, Reading, and interment will be made in Gethsemane Cemetery.

    Edith was born in Hamburg on April 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Gentile) Borelli.
    She was a member of St. Peter's RCC, Reading, and was employed by Linnette Candy as a packer, retiring in 1979.
    Edith is survived by her son, Dennis L. Deiter of Reading; her three daughters, Margaret A., widow of Ronald Kriner Sr. of Reading, Kathryn E., wife of Gary Mellinger Sr. of Akron, PA, and Lisa M. Williams, wife of Michael Herflicker Sr. of Reading; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grand-children. Edith was also predeceased by 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

    Charles Henry Kessler, age 74 years, died Tuesday morning at his home at Erdman. He was member of Klinger's Lutheran Church at Erdman.
    Mr. Kessler was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Kessler and was a lifelong resident of Erdman, where he had conducted a store and saw mill for many years.
    Survivors are the following children: Mrs. Ellen Umholtz, Oscar, Charles. Moses, Sinary, George, Harry, Luther, Lloyd, and Ezra Kessler, all of Erdman; William Kessler of Shamokin and Guy Kessler of Tower City. Thirty-two grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
    Funeral services will be held from the residence at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning with further services in Klinger's Church. Rev. Dr. D. I. Sultzbach pastor of the Sacramento Lutheran Parish will officiate and interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

    She had worked in the past for the former Muskin Shoe Co., Millersburg; and as a field agent for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Harrisburg.
    She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, serving as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent; a member of the Lykens Valley Garden Club; and Killinger Grange.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kessler; a daughter, Mary Kessler; three brothers: Ray, Glen and Luke; and four sisters: Emma, Isabel, Rachel and Bette.
    She is survived by four sons: Richard Kessler of Custer, S.D., James Kessler of Hallstead, Robert Kessler of Elizabethville and David Kessler of Halifax; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
    Services were held Feb. 23 at her church.
    Burial was in the church cemetery.
