    HEBE — Bruce Richard “Puss” Haas, 88, formerly of Hebe and most recently liv- ing at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Nottingham.
    He was born April 8, 1925, in Red Cross, a son of the late William H. and Katie E. (Hoffman) Haas. On Dec. 14, 1952, he mar- ried the former Margaret Kieffer, who survives. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.
    Bruce graduated from Herndon High School as valedictorian.
    He was employed by Kauffman Mechanical Inc., working as a pipefitter and plumber.
    He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Red Cross, and the Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union of Harrisburg.
    Bruce enjoyed woodworking, hunting and gardening, and he will be remembered as a “jack of all trades.”
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Melvin E. Haas, and one sister, Clara A. Kahler.
    A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Himmel’s Church, Rebuck, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Glen Keidel officiating.
    Interment will follow in Himmel’s Cemetery.

    HERNDON - Clayton A. Miller, 73, of Jordan Township, Herndon RD1, a retired coal miner and farmer, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday in his home.
    He had been in ill health for the past 15 years.
    Born in Dalmatia RD, Jan. 20, 1904, he was a son of the late Clayton and Amy Deppen Miller.
    Survivors are his widow, the former Ida Hoffman, whom he married in 1925; two children, Forrest Miller of Rebuck and Mrs. Cleo Shaffer of Herndon RD1; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD, by the Rev. George Heberling, pastor of the UCC Church, Herndon RD.

    Cleo Mae Shaffer, 93, of Jordan Township, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at the home of her daughter and caregiver in Klingerstown. She was born in Jordan Twp on May 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Ida S. (Hoffman) Miller and the late Clayton A. Miller.
    She was a member of Saint Paul's UCC, Urban. While she was still able, Cleo enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, doing word-finds, gardening, canning and spending time with her family and friends.
    Cleo is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Strohecker; two grandsons, Todd (Julie) Strohecker, Ty Strohecker; great-grandchildren, Lainey, Taylee and Parker Strohecker all of Klingerstown. She was preceded in death by husband of 71 years, William F. Shaffer and a brother, Forrest W. Miller.
    As per Cleo's request, there will be no services. Internment will take place in the Union Cemetery, Pillow.3

    William F. Shaffer, 95, of Herndon, Jordan Twp, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Trevorton on December 11, 1924, a son of the late Sarah and George Shaffer, raised and educated in Urban, PA.
    William served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, he was employed as a Brick Mason until his retirement in 1986. He married Cleo Mae Miller (who survives) on September 15, 1948 in Hagerstown, MD. He was a member of Saint Paul's UCC in Urban and the Bricklayer's Union Local #5.
    William enjoyed square dancing as long as he was able, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, helping on his daughter and son-in-law's farm operation, working in his wood shop where he built many pieces of furniture as well as many other small wooden items. He will be remembered for helping others, he had a kind and gentle soul. He adored his family and took pride in all their accomplishments.
    William is survived by his wife Cleo Shaffer; daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Strohecker; two grandsons, Todd (Julie) Strohecker, Ty Strohecker; three great-grandchildren, Lainey, Taylee, and Parker Strohecker all of Klingerstown; brother, Eugene (Shirley) Shaffer of Millersburg; sister, Anna Mae Mentzer of Port Charlotte, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, George, Norman Shaffer and an infant brother; sister, Margaret Baumert; half-siblings Myrlie Grimm, John and Felix Shaffer and Sara Shaffer-Latsha.
    As per William's request, there will be no services. Interment will take place in the Union Cemetery, Pillow.

    Gerald M. Adams, 87, husband of the late Fayetta E. (Frank) Adams, Pinetown Rd., Lower Providence Twp., died Friday, June 17, 2016, at Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital.
    Mr. Adams was born on Aug. 21, 1928, in Norristown, and was the son of the late John Q. and Marguerite M. (Houdman) Adams. He was a 1946 graduate of Norristown High School.
    Before he retired, Mr. Adams was a mechanic at Philadelphia Gear Corp., Upper Merion Twp., for 29 years.
    Mr. Adams enjoyed hunting, shooting, and spending time with his family at his cabin in Center County. He was a past president of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the NRA.
    Mr. Adams is survived by his children, G. Frank, husband of Elizabeth (Heffner) Adams, E. Coventry Twp., and F. Gail, wife of Thomas Simpson, Upper Providence Twp; his grandchildren, Jessica Adams, Valerie, wife of Walter Jedwabny, T. Patrick Jr., husband of Chandra (Yovish) Simpson, and Gregory, husband of Suzanne (DiRusso) Simpson; and his great-grandchildren, Anna Simpson, Macy Simpson, Nicholas Simpson, Thomas Simpson, Jacob Cillo, Jolissa Adams, Annora Adams, Walter Jedwabny, and Avonia Jedwabny. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jocelyn Jones.
    Services will be private. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.3
