    Homer R. Schwalm, 63, of Spring Glen, died Wednesday at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1911 at Spring Glen, a son of the late Leon and Sally Dieter Schwalm. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist .Church, Spring Glen.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Dorothy Rothermel; three sisters, Elva, wife of Charles Kiefer of Hegins; Erma, wife of Lester Guttshall of Harrisburg; Edna, wife of William Schrawder of Spring Glen; nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Robert Cook will officiate. Interment will be in St Paul's UCC Cemetery, Sacramento. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RD1 Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
    Born in Klingerstown, May 2, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Charles Allen Rothermel and Carrie Kahler RothermeL She was a 1936 graduate of Hubley Township High School.
    She was employed at the former Philmark Manufacturing Co., Valley View, until retiring in 1983. Mrs. Schwalm was a member of St. Mark's Church, where she had been Sunday school superintendent and teacher and a memeber of the church missionary society.
    She was a member of Tri-Valley Senior Citizens; Tri-Valley historical society; Sacramento Fire Company Auxiliary; and Johannes Schwalm Association.
    Her first husband, Homer R. Schwalm, died Jan. 8, 1975. A sister, Jennie Rothermel, also preceded her in death.
    Surviving are her husband, Wilson E. Schwalm, whom she married Nov. 27, 1976; a stepson, Walter W., RD1 Hegins; a stepdaughter, Diane Ressler, Valley View; four sisters, Helen Landvater, RD Middletown, Edna Slusser, Nescopeck, Arlene Keiter, Hanover, and Verna Dotterer, Mill Hall; a brother, Elwood L. Rothermel, RD1 Klingerstown; five step-grandchildren.7

    She was a retired seamstress, having worked in local factories and later worked on the family farm. She was a 1937 graduate of the former Hubley Township High School.
    She enjoyed sewing, canning, traveling, genealogy, and was proficient in reading and writing in German. She was also active with the Johannes Schwalm Historical Society.
    She was a life member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Spring Glen, where she was a former pianist for the Sunday school.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Gutshall and Elva Kiefer; one brother, Homer Schwalm.
    Surviving are nieces and nephews: Lee Kiefer, Hegins; Ronald and Dean Gutsehll, both of Harrisburg, Eugene and Jerry Schrawder, both of Manheim, Beverly Klinger, Valley View, and Rachel Frederick, Allentown.
    A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mark United Methodist Church, Spring Glen, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. William Danis and the Rev. Mark Woodring officiating.
    Interment will be in St. Mark United Methodist Cemetery, Spring Glen.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Mark United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Spring Glen, PA 17978.
    Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, has charge of arrangements.

    Obituary for Barbara J. Kissinger
    Barbara J Kissinger, age 82, of Valley View, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    She was born on Saturday, February 20, 1937, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Ivan Koppenhaver and the late Thelma Morgan Koppenhaver.
    Barbara was a 1955 graduate of the former Hubley Township High School.
    She worked at the Tri-Valley High School Cafeteria and last worked at Bixler's Country Meats, Valley View.
    She was a member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen; where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also sang with the Pine Creek Circuit Riders.
    Her husband, Donald H Kissinger, passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by a grandson, Joel R Kissinger, and a step grandson, Jeremy Michener.
    She is survived by two sons, Rick D Kissinger and his wife Dawn of Hegins and Craig A Kissinger and his companion Nancy Carpenter of Mt Carmel; a daughter, Lori J Blyler and her husband Joe of Valley View; three grandsons, Joe D Blyler and his wife Allison of Elysburg, Andrew J Blyler and his wife Kelsey of Hegins, and Drew A Kissinger of Klingerstown; two step grandsons, Dennis Wolfe of Hegins and Steven Michener of Seattle, WA; a step granddaughter, Shelby Wolfe of Mt Carmel; three great granddaughters, Adalyn Blyler, Juliette Blyler, and Cora Blyler; and a brother, Lenwood I Koppenhaver and his wife Linda of Pottstown.
    Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Wallace officiating.
    Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
    Burial will be made in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
    Memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    Services for Donald H. Kissinger, 61, of Sacramento, who died Wednesday at Pottsville Hospital, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mark's United ; Methodist Church, Spring Glen. The Rev. Mark Woodring will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen. Bufflng-ton-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
    Born in Valley View, Sept. 1, 1935, he was a son of the late Harold and Ersal Rose Kissinger. He was a 1953 graduate of Hubley Township High School.
    He was a Navy veteran.
    He was employed as a machine operator for Metal Industries Inc., Gratz.
    He was a member of St. Mark's UM Church where he was assistant superintendent, certified lay speaker, custodian and caretaker of St. Mark's Cemetery. He was a member of Sacramento Fire Company.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Koppenhaver; two sons, Rick, Hegins, and Craig, Sacramento; a daughter, Lori Blyler, Valley View; two sisters, Dolores Troutman, Valley View, and Janice Lettich, Carlisle; seven grandsons.
