Enjaline Klinger

  • Enjaline Klinger is also referred to as Angeline, Anjeline, and Anna in some sources.1
  • She was born on 26 July 1856, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.2,3
  • She was the daughter of Samuel Klinger and Catherine Williard.
  • Enjaline Klinger was baptized on 7 September 1856, Zion (Klinger's) Church, Erdman, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.1
  • She married John Shoemaker.4
  • Enjaline Klinger married Leo Reedinger, son of Frederick Reedinger and Ephracina Bolling, in 1884.5
  • Some sources suggest that Enjaline Klinger and Leo Reedinger were married in 1876.2
  • The Census records for the Wiconisco area of Dauphin County list a couple named Anna and Leo Readinger (variously spelled) from 1900 through 1930. According to the 1880 Census, Leo was born in Baden, Germany around 1864, to Fredoline (age 60) and Ephracina (age 62) Reatdinger, both of whom were born in Baden, Germany. Fredoline was a shoemaker. If this Leo Readinger was Angeline's husband, they were likely married after 1880, probably around 1884. The 1900 Census lists a household for Leo (age 36) and Annie Riedinger (age 44) that included 5 children: August, 15; James L., 13; Samuel M., 12; Julia K., 9; and Laura M., 2. Leo was listed as working at a coal mine. The 1910 Census lists Leo and Anna Reedinger as married 25 years. Anna had given birth to 8 children, 6 of whom were then living. Leo was working as a coal miner. Leo and Annie were living with 5 of their children: August M., 25; James L., 23; Samuel A., 22; Julia L., 20; and Laura M., 12. By 1920, Leo and Anna's household included just August and Laura. August was a laborer for a contractor, while Laura was a "looper" in a hosiery mill. The birth dates given for Anna in these Census listings are consistent with the birth date of Angeline Klinger, and it is likely she who is referred to in these listings.6,7,5,8
  • Enjaline Klinger died on 15 November 1930, Wiconisco, Dauphin County, PA, at age 74.9
  • She was buried on 18 November 1930, at Lykens, Dauphin County, PA.9
