  She was a member of Daughters of America and American Legion Auxiliary, Valley View.
  Her husband, Roy, died in 1982.
  Surviving are a son, Bruce, Valley View; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marlin Rickert, Hegins, James Rickert, Valley View, and Robert Rickert, Lemoyne; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Reed, Tower City, and Mary Deiter, Valley View.
  Services will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday from Robert Miller Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. H. Kapp Ogburn III, Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, will officiate. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View. There will be no calling hours Tuesday evening.

  Mr. Carl was born in Spring Glen July 3, 1897, son of the late Charles and Hannah (nee Bowman) Carl.
  He was employed at regional mines and was! a member of United Mine Workers of America.
  Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mildred, wife of Jay Bowman of Hegins R. D. 1; Jean, wife of Wilmer Gilbert, Sacramento; three grandchildren; one brother, Russell, Spring Glen; three sisters, Mrs. Neda Deibert, Hegins RD 1; Miss Crosie Carl and Mrs. Paul Artz, both of Spring Glen.
  Mr. Carl was of the Lutheran Faith.

  Mildred Martha Bowman, 94, of 5255 Route 25, Gratz, formerly of Hegins, passed away Thursday at The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
  Born in Fearnot, Oct. 24, 1916, she's a daughter of the late Lewis Carl and Jennie Herb Carl.
  She was a graduate of the former Hubley Township High School.
  She had worked as a seamstress in area garment factories.
  She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento.
  Mildred enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching TV. She and her late husband were avid campers.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay M. Bowman, and a sister, Jean Gilbert.
  She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, who all loved and cherished her very much.
  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, with the Rev. Raymond Holland officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.   She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, where she served as Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years.
  Her husband, Wilmer O., died Oct. 22, 1985.
  Surviving are two sons, Carl W., Harrisburg, and Lynn W., Sacramento; a daughter, Ginger G. Fishel, RD1 Lykens; a sister, Mildred Bowman, RD1 Hegins; seven grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren.
  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's UCC. The Rev. Francis Whitehurst will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
