    Mr. Shade was born in Lykens, PA, on December 25, 1953, a son of Janice (Kissinger) Shade of Gratz and the late Jack E. Shade.
    He was the husband of 34 years to Jane M. (Koppenhaver) Shade.
    He was a graduate of Upper Dauphin, Class of 1971; a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, and was retired from the Commonwealth of PA, Harrisburg. He was a member of Gratz Fire Company, Gratz Fair, was the assistant secretary of Gratz Boro Council, Gratz Lykens Twp., VFW, and a member of the Erdman's Sportsman Club, and was a member of the PA National Guard.
    In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jane of Lykens; daughter, Tara J. Shade of Marysville; son, Mathew R. Shade and wife, Megan of Gratz; brothers, Jack E. Shade, Jr., and wife, Cindy of Gratz, Craig Shade and wife, Sandra of Gratz; and one grandson, Caleb Shade of Gratz.
    Friends are invited to call today, Friday, February 16, 2007 from 7-9 p.m., at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz. Religious service will be at the church at 10 a.m., on Saturday, February 17th, with Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment at Gratz Union Cemetery.

    Rev. Klinger Dies at Age 53
    The Rev. Luther R. Klinger, fifty-three, pastor of the Kready Avenue Evangelical Congregational Church, Millersville, died at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the General Hospital after a brief illness.
    The Rev. Mr. Klinger, who resided at 16 Landis Ave., Millersville, became ill about two weeks ago and was admitted to the hospital following a heart attack Sunday at his home.
    In addition to his church duties he was active as a teacher. He held teaching certificates enabling him to teach any subject in the Pennsylvania High School with the exception of Spanish and French.
    PASTOR SINCE 1926
    He began his career in the Evangelical Congregational ministry in May, 1926, when he accepted a student appointment at Womelsdorf and Robesonia.
    Other churches of the East Pennsylvania Conference of the EC Church which he served included Birdsboro, 1929-32; Treverton [sic], 1932-35; Mahaony City, 1942-47; Emmaus, 1947-53; and Grace Church, Ephrata, 1953-59. He came to the Millersville Church in April of this year.
    During his pastorate at Ephrata the Rev. Mr. Klinger was instrumental in the construction of the $225,000 Grace EC Church.
    While serving in Ephrata he was a member of the board of directors of the Ephrata Community Hospital; was president of the Ephrata Ministerial Assn, and held the post of chaplain in the Ephrata Lions Club.
    TEACHER
    The Rev. Mr. Klinger taught at Ephrata, Treverton High School, Sheppton High School and Mahanoy City High School.
    He served as secretary of the Sunday School and Christian Endeavor Federation of the conference; was assistant director and later director of the Senior camp of the School of Methods at Waldheim Park, Allentown: and was member of the Sunday School and Christian Endeavor Board of the General Conference of the denomination.
    He was a member and past master of the Mahanoy City Lodge 579, F and AM. He also held membership in Mizpah Royal Arch Chapter 252, R.A.M., Mahanoy City; Ivanhoe Commandery 31, Mahanoy City; Reading Consistory; Allen Council 23, Allentown; and the IOOF Lodge 591, Shenandoah.
    Born in Gratz, Dauphin county, he was a son of Mrs. Virgie Wolf Klinger of Reading, and the late Harry A. Klinger. He was graduated from Wiconisco High School, Albright College in 1933, and completed summer courses at Bucknell University.
    In addition to his mother and wife, the former Ernestine Clemens, he is survived by two sons, Harry E., Manor Valley, Lancaster; and Robert, at home.
    Also surviving are four grandchildren, a sister, Eva, wife of Eustace Marino, West Reading; and three brothers, Guy and Leroy, both of Wernersville; and Charles, Angelica.

    Bom Sept. 16, 1907, in Northumberland, she had been a supervisor in the dietary department of the ECC Retirement Village. She was a member of Zion ECC in Myerstown and the Mahanoy City chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
    Surviving are sons Donald Klinger, Eureka Springs, Ark., and Robert Klinger, Sandpoint, Idaho; eight grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.3

    Born in Spring Glen, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Virgie (Wolfe) Klinger.
    His wife, Lillian A. (Baer) Klinger died April 14, 1974.
    He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wernersville where he was a former councilman. He also served as church custodian for about 10 years.
    Mr. Klinger was a past president of Wernersville Senior Citizens.
    He was a firepoliceman for many years in Berks County.
    He was a part-time police officer for South Heidelberg Township, in the mid 1960's.
    Mr. Klinger was a foundry foreman at the former Textile Machine Works for 37 years, retiring in 1973.
    He played saxophone and organ for several instrumental groups and also sang for 30 years with the former EvenTide Singers, Reading.
    He was a chauffeur for Bindenwood and Galen Hall Resorts in the 1950's.
    Mr. Klinger drove bus for Wilson School District from 1974 to 1990.
    He was custodian at Green Valley Country Club for about five years.
    He was preceded in death by his son, C.M.C. Richard M. Klinger in 1993.
    Mr. Klinger is survived by seven sons: Tech Sgt. Forrest G. Klinger, of Tampa Fl; Elwood L. Klinger, of Wernersville; Gene L. Klinger, of Muhlenberg Township; Bruce H. Klinger, Robesonia; Dennis G. Klinger, of Sinking Spring; Marlin D. Klinger, Mohrsville; and Keith A. Klinger, of Sinking Spring. Also surviving are a daughter, Doris (Klinger) Shadel, of Virginia Beach, Va; a brother, Guy G. Klinger, of Wyomissing; a sister, Eva (Klinger) Marino, of Clay (Lancaster County); 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, Inc., Wernersville. Interment will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. Friends may call Thursday from 10:30 to
    11:30 a.m. a the Funeral Home.

    Eva (Klinger) Marino
    Eva was born on January 26, 1927, in Gratz, Pennsylvania, to Harry and Virgie Klinger, and passed away on January 7, 2017, a few days shy of her 90th birthday.
    She attended West Reading High School in West Reading, Pennsylvania.
    In 1942, she married Eustachio R. Marino Sr., and they lived in West Reading, until 1995 when they moved to Ephrata, Pennsylvania. In 2001 they moved to Colorado to be closer to their family. Her last home was in Englewood at Caley Ridge Assisted Living community. She loved watching her Philadelphia sports teams, often with a beloved kitty on her lap.
    In the early years, she worked for the Reading Trust Company, then spent over thirty years as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Richard Kleppinger at the Women's Clinic in West Reading.
    She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Eustachio; her daughter, Pamela (Marino-Munroe) Dowd and husband, Terence, of Parker, Colorado; son, E. Richard Marino Jr. and his wife, Heidi, of Boise, Idaho; granddaughters, Jayme Marino of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sara Marino of Seattle, Washington; brother-in-law, Antonio Marino and wife, Ella, of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania; son-in-law, William F. Munroe of Millville, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was predeceased by her parents; and brothers, Luther, Charles, LeRoy and Guy Klinger.
    No service will be held at this time, but will occur at the time she and Eustachio can be reunited again.

    We want to express our appreciation to Caley Ridge and Suncrest Hospice who took amazing and loving care of her. Her blue eyes and contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
