    ELIZABETHVILLE - Adam E. Leitzel, 91, Elizabethville RD, died Sunday in the Blue Ridge Haven West Convalescent Center, Camp Hill.
    Born Oct. 15, 1889, in Shamokin, he was the son of the late William T. and Barbara Clark Leitzel.
    Mr. Leitzel was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville; American Legion Post 326, Millersburg; VFW Post 5507, Millersburg; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1149, Shamokin; and Reliance Hose Company, Elizabethville; and was a veteran of World War I.
    A laborer, he was retired from Walker's Mill, Elizabethville.
    Mr. Leitzel is survived by one stepbrother, Roy Leitzel of Middletown, and one stepsister, Mrs. Harry Weaver of Elizabethville RD.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hoover Funeral. Home, Elizabethville, by the Rev. Steven Dorsett Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
    Friends may call in the funeral home from noon to the time of the service Wednesday.

    HARVEY LEITZEL VICTIM OF ' . HEART ATTACK IN MINES
    Harvey E. Leitzel age 84 years, a resident of Sheridan, stricken with a heart attack, died at his work in the mines of Brookside colliery near Tower City last Monday evening.
    Leitzel and his fellow worker, Charles Haubenstein, were drilling holes, when the former complained of not feeling well. Leitzel followed Haubenstein's advice to take a short period of rest, and went some distance away to sit down. Completing his work a few minutes later, Haubenstein called to Leitzel. When he received no reply, Haubenstein in-vesligated and found Leitzel in a sitting posture, and apparently unconscipus.
    Leitzel was removed to the surface where attempts were made at resuscitation, but with no avail and he was pronounced dead by Dr. Barnd, mine physician.
    Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Leitzel and was born at Pillow, June 13, 1899.
    Survivors are his father, William Leitzel of Berrysburg; his widow, five sons, Russell, Robert, Harvey Jr., Howard and William, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Broscious of Philadelphia; Mrs. John Straub of Gratz; Mrs. Harry Weaver, Elizabethville; two brothers Samuel Leitzel, Curtin; Adam Leitzel of Philadelphia and a step-brother, " Ray Leitzel of Berrysburg.
    Funeral services were held at two o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev. Ira F. Frankenfield, pastor of the Tower City Lutheran Church officiated and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery at that place.
    A post mortem examination was conducted last Tuesday evening to determine the cause of death, but the conclusion reached by the physicians, was not announced.

  • Jennie Salara Miller married William Oscar Leitzel, son of William Lincoln Troutman Leitzel and Barbara Alice Clark, on 15 January 1910, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.2
  • Jennie Salara Miller died on 20 May 1930, Williams Township, Dauphin County, PA, at age 39; The death certificate indicates that she died as a result of having her left juglar vein and carotid artery several by a knife at the hand of Henry S. Noel. There was extensive newspaper coverage of the incident. Initially, Noel claimed that he and Jennie, who was his housekeeper, were walking in the mountains when they were both attacked, but later he confessed to killing her, jealous of her upcoming marriage. Just before death from having his own throat cut, apparently self-inflicted, he retraced the confession. An inquest determined that Noel was responsible for Jennie's death. One story noted that seven children, four of Jennie's and three of Henry's, were left homeless by the tragedy.1,3,2,4,5,6,7,8,9

    Palmer S. Schultz, 90, Elizabethville
    Palmer S. Schultz, 90, formerly of Shippen Dam Road and Millersburg, passed away on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
    He was born April 20, 1920, a son of the late Charles H. and Mary E. (Herb) Schultz. He was married to the former Gladys M. Straub, who preceded him in death.
    Palmer served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
    He was retired from the Harrisburg Steel Harrisburg.
    Palmer was a member of St. Lutheran Church, Berrysburg where he was a former council member and had served on the church cemetery committee and was a former treasurer of the cemetery. He helped with various events including the church strawberry festival. He was a former member of the Upper Dauphin School Board, a life member of the Berrysburg Community Fire Company, a member of the Diamond Jubilee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2385, Gratz, and the American Legion Post 326, Millersburg.
    He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Sr. and Judy Schultz, of Elizabethville; one daughter, Cindy Phillips, of Elizabethville; five sisters, Gertrude Deitz, of Pitman, Irene Bernas, of Mount Carmel, Geraldine Heim, of Valley View, Norma Fetterhoff, of Hegins and Betty Schleigs, of Gowen City; five grandchildren, Ronald jr., Christina, Amanda, Shane and Shawn; and five great-grandchildren, Tasha, Taylor, Bethany, Aubrey and Cameron.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit Schultz and Charles S. Schultz, and one sister, Ruby Kessler.
    The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, followed by a funeral service at 11.
    Burial with military honors to fol low in the church cemetery.
    Memorial donations may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 270, Berrysburg, PA 17005. The Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes, Elizabethville is in charge of arrangements.
