    Former Shamokin Grocer Expires
    D. Morris Shaffer, 83, of 3 North Seventh Street, died this morning, at 7:25 in Shamokin Hospital of a complication resulting from a heart attack.
    Mr. Shaffer was admitted to the hospital last night. He underwent an operation several weeks ago in Geisinger Memorial Hospital, Danville.
    Born May 20, 1871, in Hebe, D. Morris Shaffer was a son of the late Michael and Franny (Snyder) Shaffer. He and the former Miss" Sallie K. Shott were married May 7, 1880. in Pillow. Mrs. Shaffer died In 1942.
    Mr. Shaffer operated a grocery, store at 35 North Market Street for 28 years. He was later employed at the local A & P store for 10 years. For 13 years, Mr. Shaffer was employed by the State Department of Property and Supplies in Harrisburg.
    Survivors include seven children; Mrs. Helen Bendel and Charles, Shamokin: Mrs. Olive Bogar, Harrisburg; Malcolm. Hazleton; Robert, Elizabeth. N. J., Elwood. Shenandoah, and Mrs. Phrana Manney, at home: one sister, Mrs. Oscar Shade, Shamokin; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Frrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut Streets. Dr. H. C. Fry, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral. home Monday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00, and Tuesday until time of the services.

    Francis S. Shaffer Succumbs After Several Months' Illness
    Francis S. Shaffer, 824 North Sixth Street, died of a complication at his home at 5:45 last evening following several months' illness.
    Mr. Shaffer was stricken ill in December of last year, and was bedfast much of the time since then. He was a patient in Geisinger Hospital, Danville, on two occasions, but was at home, where he was confined to bed, for the past several weeks. He was in failing health for the past six years.
    Francis Shaffer was born in Jordan Township, April 5, 1880, son of the late Daniel W. and Phrana (Snyder) Shaffer. He came to Shamokin when he was 14 years old, and was a salesman for local hardware firms most of his adult life. He was a traveling salesman for W. C. Hack and Sons, hardware merchants, from 1915 until he was forced to relinquish his duties last December because of illness. He was married 37 years ago to Miss Caroline E. Moore, Shamokin, who survives. Mr. Shaffer was a member of Shamokin Lodge of Masons, Williamsport Consistory and other branches of the Masonic order. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are his wife and one daughter. Mrs. Melvin Parks. Shamokin; two brothers, W. E. Shaffer and D. M. Shaffer, and a sister, Mrs. Oscar Shade, Shamokin, and one half-sister. Mrs. Catherine Adams, Hickory Corners.
    Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:00 Thursday afternoon Rev. M. L. Enders, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Shamokin Cemetery.

    Born in Klingerstown, Oct. 9, 1903, Mr. Klinger was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Scheib) Klinger. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins. He was a retired construction supervisor.
    Mr. Klinger was married to the former Sadie Dunkelberger, who died in 1959. He was a member of Pen Argyl Lodge No. 594 Free and Accepted Masons, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Allentown.
    Survivors include four children, Claude Jr., Stroudsburg; Robert, Camp Hill; Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Wolfgang, Harrisburg; and Dolores, Philadelphia; one brother, Daniel, Herndon RD; one sister, Mrs. Katie Renninger, Newtown; Tillie Huntzinger, a lifelong friend with whom he resided; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
    Service was held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Robert Stewart, Hegins, officiating. Burial was in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.3,8
