    She was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz.
    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Rebecca Shetterly, of Elizabethville; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mark Sprauer, of Berrysburg; four grandchildren, Shari Sprauer Kolva, Frederick Jason Shetterly, Shawna Lucas and Nicole Shetterly; and two great-grandchildren, BriAunna Shetterly and Bryce Lucas.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Schaffer, Hilda Straub and Ruth Shaffer.
    There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Dan Durkee officiating.
    Burial will follow in Sweitzers Memorial Cemetery, Berrysburg.
    Donations may be made to the building fund of her church, Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 6297 Lykens Valley Road, Gratz, PA 17030.
    Arrangements are by the Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Elizabethville.

    She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Mifflin Township, a daughter of the late Franklin H. and Dosie D. (Klinger) Henninger. She was married to Herman E. Shaffer, who preceded her in death.
    Ruth had been employed by Ames Shower Curtain, Millersburg, and Kochers IGA, Elizabethville.
    She was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz.
    Ruth was known for her baked goods and chow-chow, which she made for many church functions and people in the area.
    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Philip E. and Jane (Laudenbach) Shaffer, of Gratz; one grandson, Todd Shaffer and his wife, Darlene (Faust), of Lykens; one sister, Gladys “Ferle” Shetterly, of Millersburg; and three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brittney and Dakota.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral at 11, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz.
    Burial will follow in Emmanuel Wesleyan Cemetery, Gratz.
    Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 6297 Route 25, Gratz, PA 17030.
    The Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes, Elizabethville, is in charge of the arrangements.4

    She retired from the Puritan Fashions, Millersburg; and was a charter member of Calvary Wesleyan Church, Millersburg.
    Surviving are her sons, Bruce E. Harper of Enders, James L. Harper of Manassas, VA, and Harold J. Harper of Millersburg; a sister, Myrtle E. George of Mechanicsburg; and grandchildren, Walter Harper of Danbury, CT, Scott Harper of Broadway, NC, Audrey Harper of Farnham, VA, Sondra Horton of Columbus, NJ, and Sherry Mattis of Palmyra, PA. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Homer, and Earl Koppenhaver.
    Services will be held at Calvary Wesleyan Church, Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert Simpkins officiating. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m., Monday, November 19th and Tuesday, November 20th from 1-2 p.m., at the church. Interment will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax, PA.
    Contributions may be made to the Calvary Wesleyan Church, Building Fund, 294 Moore Street, Millersburg, PA 17061.
