    CHARLES M. HOFFMAN
    Charles M. Hoffman, 83, a native of Fearnot, died this morning shortly after eight clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Herb, Tremont.
    In ill health for the past several years, he came to Tremont to make his home with his daughter in 1939. During the first week in June of this year his condition became worse and he was critically ill since that time. When he died in his sleep this morning his physician and Mrs. Herb were at his bedside.
    Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hoffman of Fearnot. He had no brothers or sisters. His wife died in 1926. The only survivor is Mrs. Henry Herb, who is their only child.
    He was a member of the United Brethren Church, Fearnot.
    Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but burial will be made in Fearnot. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. H. Mentzer, pastor of the Fearnot Church, assisted by the Rev. Albert Dambach, pastor of the Tremont United Brethren Church. H. A. Snyder of Tremont will be the funeral director.

    MRS. HENRY G. HERB
    Mrs. Alice Herb, wife of Henry G. Herb, of Spring Street, Tremont, died at 2:15 Monday afternoon in the Allentown General Hospital. In failing health for many months, Mrs. Herb was taken to the Allentown Hospital on Tuesday of the week before her death, and underwent an operation last Friday.
    Bora in Fearnot, she was a daughter of Charles and Justina Schwalm [Hoffman].
    Mrs. Herb was a faithful member of the United Brethren in Christ Church, Tremont, was a member of the church choir and took an active part in the various activities of the church societies.
    Her husband, member of the Tremont Borough School Board for many years and manager of the Williams Valley Lumber Company branch office in Tremont, himself in poor health, went to the hospital last week to visit his wife and when he collapsed there was retained as a patient to undergo an operation this week. However, when his wife's death occurred, the operation was postponed and he was brought home on Wednesday for a temporary stay until after her funeral.
    In addition to her husband, Mrs. Herb is survived by three children, Mrs. Ethel Warner of Reading, Ray, a high school teacher, and Earl, both of Metuchen, New Jersey.
    Her funeral was held from the H. A. Snyder Funeral Home, Tremont, Thursday morning, followed by fur ther services in the Fearnot Church. Interment was made in the Fearnot cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. I. Summy pastor cf the Tremont United Breth ren Church, and the Rev. H. M Mentzer, of Valley View.

    Surviving are her husband, Robert; two daughters, Shirley, wife of Glenn A. Furman, Palmyra, and Michele, wife of Richard L. Wetzel, Tremont; a brother, Elmer G. Gardner, Reading, and three grand-children.

    He was a member of Pine Grove Lodge 409 of the Masons, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Rajah Temple Shrine, Harrisburg, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Schuylkill Forest 50, Schuylkill Shrine Club, American Legion Post of Pine Grove, Ex-Servicemen's Club, Pine Grove, and he was a former treasurer of Villas Civic Club.
    Surviving are his wife, Margaret S; two daughters, Shirley Furman, Palmyra and Michelle Wetzel, Pine Grove; seven stepchildren, 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Williams, and Mary Vigurs, both of Villas, and Matilda Fox, Pine Grove.
    Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Evoy Funeral Home, Bashore Road, Lower Township, N J. Burial will be in Cape May County Veterans' Cemetery, Middle Township, NJ.

    Elmer G. Gardner Jr., 90, formerly of Wyomissing, passed January 5th in the Reading Hospital. He was a real people person and a very social guy, enjoying life until the very end. One of his favorite haunts was the YR Club.
    He was the widower of Joan E. (Barry) Gardner with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
    Born in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Elmer Gardner Sr. and Ethel (Saltzer) Kerchner.
    Elmer graduated from Reading High School, class of 1949, proudly served in the US Navy and was a member of Reading Lodge 549 F&AM and Rajah Shrine, Valley of Reading. He was also a graduate of American Foundry Association, Cast Metals Institute.
    Elmer retired from Neenah Foundry Co., Neenah, Wisconsin, and also worked at Kutztown Foundry & Machine Co., Kutztown, PA.
    He is survived by 2 daughters, Tracy (Gardner), wife of Neil Perate, and Roxanne (Confer), wife of Tom Evans, 2 grandchildren, Ashley Grande and Jocelyn Kearney and 4 great grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sons, Keith A. Gardner and Guy B. Gardner and a sister Grace Bonawitz.
    A memorial service will be held in the Spring to celebrate his life. Interment will be at Charles Evans Cemetery.
