    ARTHUR RAY DEIBLER
    Arthur Ray Deibler, 85, well-known retired school teacher and church worker, died Monday morning at his home in Valley View.
    A native of Berrysburg, he was born November 1, 1874, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Deibler.
    Following his graduation from Millersville State Teachers College in 1898, he taught in Upper Dauphin and Lower Northumberland Counties. He later served as principal of Valley View High School.
    He left the teaching profession for a time and was employed as outside foreman and chief clerk for the P. & R. C. & I. Co. at Valley View, returning in 1940 to teaching and taught in Eldred Township until his retirement in 1955.
    For many years he served on the council of Trinity Lutheran Church at Valley View, was superintendent of its Sunday School and teacher of the Men's Bible Class.
    He was a member of Millersburg Moose Lodge, and American Legion and Fire Company, both of Vallev View.
    His wife, the runner Hannah Snyder, died in 1937.
    Surviving are these children: Russell of Joliett; Mrs. Ray Herb of Metuchen, N. J; Frank, Chester, Ralph and Donald, all or Valley View; Mrs. Wendell Crabe, of Harrisburg; 13 two sisters, Mrs. Edna Bowman of Philadelphia, and Mrs, Mabel Willard, of Chestnut Hill, and a brother, Homer, of Holly Hill, Fla.
    His funeral was held Thursday morning from the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, with interment in Union Cemetery at Pillow. The Rev. Burlington B. Latshaw, Jr., pastor of Trinity Church at Valley View, officiated at the services.

    Shirley Chapman Furman Baum, 89, of Palmyra passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Hershey Medical Center.
    Born in Tremont, PA on February 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Grace A. (Schaeffer) Chapman. She graduated from Tremont High School in 1949. Shirley worked for Thrift Drug Store in Palmyra and Lebanon Valley National Bank, now called Fulton Bank. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palmyra, and a 2015 member of the United States Navy Memorial.
    Surviving is a son, Craig A. Furman and wife Lydia Cornelius of Owings Mills, MD, a daughter, Lori Furman Keener, wife of Brent of Hummelstown, a stepdaughter, Donna Jones, wife of Donald of Hilton Head, SC, five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Furman, her late husband, Carl R. Baum, a stepdaughter, Barbara DeMeo, wife of John DeMeo of Phoenix, MD, a sister, Michelle Bonawitz Wetzel, wife of the late Richard Wetzel, and a granddaughter, Tanya Shirey Fox.
    Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.     Glenn A. Furman, 54, of 708 N. Railroad St., Palmyra, died Thursday, April 26, 1984, in the Hershey Medical Center after a 10-month illness.
    He was bom in Tremont, Schuylkill County, a son of Elizabeth Young Furman, Palmyra, and the late Asher K. Furman. For 18 years he had been a service salesman for Gulf Oil Corp. for the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and for the past seven and a half years was employed as a painter for Butler Manufacturing, Cleona. He was a graduate of Tremont High School Class of 1949.
    He is survived by his wife, Shirley Chapman Furman; a son, Craig A., Palmyra; a daughter, Lori F. Shirey, Lebanon; granddaughters Julie, Jennifer and Tanya, and a brother, Austin S., Harrisburg. Another brother, Covert Furman, was killed in World War II.

    Carl R. Baum, 85, of 218 Community Circle, Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra, died Friday, July 1, 2011, in the Home. He was the husband of Shirley C. F. Baum.
    Born in Derry Twp., on October 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Morris and Clara Holsberg Baum. He was the retired President of Bomberger's Bologna Company and also worked at the Lebanon Steel Foundry for 10 years.
    Carl was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, serving on a destroyer in the South Pacific. He graduated from Hershey High School in 1943, Lebanon Valley College in 1950, with a degree in Chemistry and Biology, and received his Associates degree, from Hershey Junior College.
    Carl was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra, served two terms on the Palmyra School Board, and served on the Palmyra Recreation Association. He was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Meat Packers Association, and honorary member of the Eastern Meat Packers Association, and member and past president in 1990, of the Lebanon Country Club.
    Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters Donna wife of Donald Jones and Barbara Stevens both of Hilton Head, NC, and two grandchildren, Darcie and Darah Jones. He was the last of his immediate family.
    Memorial services will be held on Friday, at 10:00 a.m., from First United Methodist Church, 520 E. Birch Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, in Carl's memory.
