    Norman R. Otto
    Norman R. Otto, 52, of Main St Hegins, died on Monday at 9:35 p.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, where he was admitted as a surgical pa- on June 29.
    Mr. Otto, born at Hegins on Feb. 4, 1911, was a son of the late Raymond and Dollie Minnich Otto.
    In the coal business most of his life, he had formerly neem in partnership with Otto Brothers and later became a self-employed independent miner.
    Mr. Otto, a member of Friedens Lutheran Church at Hegins, and the church council, was affiliated with the Valley Lodge 797 F. and A.M. at Valley View, the Reading Consistory, Reading Shriner, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Independent Miners Association and the Hegins Fire Co.
    Surviving are his wile, the former Mildred Straub; these sons and daughters, Janice, wife of Donald Scheib of Hegins RD., George Otto of New Cumberland, Jack Otto, or Hegins: Judy wife of Charles Huntsinger Jr., of Hegins; nine grandchildren; two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Ned Schrope, Mrs. Dale Willier and Marlin Otto, all of Hegins.
    Funeral Friday morning from Friedens Lutheran Church at Hegins. The Rev. Frederick Erb Jr., of Eastonr will officiate at services. Interment ain the adjoining church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home at Valley View is in charge of arrangements.

    Darvin I. "Darvy" Daniels, 87, of Gratz, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, where he had been a patient since August 6, 2007.
    Born in Lykens Township on April 1, 1920, he was a son of the late German and Sallie (Welker) Daniels.
    He was a former coal miner, an employee of the former Dormar Shirt Factory at Gratz and a Christmas tree farmer, retiring in 2007.
    He was educated in the Lykens Township schools and enjoyed working on his Christmas tree farm.
    He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and received the Philippine Lib. Ribbon, the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
    He was a member of the Simeon Lutheran Church, the Gratz Fire Company, and the Gratz Senior Citizens.
    Surviving are his wife, Eva (Deibert) Daniels, whom he married January 11, 1947; one son, Isaiah "Ike" Daniels and his companion, Rhonda Deibert of Gratz; four grandchildren, Amber Yerger, Amy Daniels, Amanda Daniels, and Isaiah Daniels, Jr. and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Zerby, Hannah Klinger and Ellen Wiest and three brothers, Lee, Homer and Carl Daniels.
    Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Simeon Lutheran Church, Gratz, where the funeral will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Burial in Gratz Union Cemetery.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, has charge of arrangements.
