    PILLOW — Richard Eugene “Dick” Troutman, 84, of Pillow, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
    He was born in Pillow on Oct. 7, 1928, a son of the late Ida Sally Etta Troutman and the late Preston V. Troutman. He was married to the former Barbara Blyler.
    He was a 1950 graduate of Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove.
    Richard served in the Army.
    He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
    He was employed as a civil service worker by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
    Richard was a member of Salem-Zion Church, Pillow; chaplain of the Upper Dauphin Shrine Club; a member of the Masonic Lodge of Herndon; a Sunday school teacher at his church for 60 years and also at the Polk Apartments in Millersburg; president of the Good Shepherd Organiza- tion of the Lutheran Village in Millersburg; a member of the Gratz Fair Board; president of the Pillow Historical Society; and a substitute teacher at Up- per Dauphin and Millersburg schools.
    Surviving, in addition to his loving spouse, Barbara Troutman; are one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy R. and Jill Troutman, of Hershey; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina A. and Dennis Buffington, of Pillow; one brother, Marvin Troutman, of Pillow; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Glen and Joy Troutman.
    A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Salem-Zion Church, Pillow, with the Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.
    Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem-Zion Church, P.O. Box 116, Pillow, PA 17080.

    The funeral of Samuel W. Starr, 95, formerly of Valley View, who died Thursday morning in Doctors' Geriatric Hospital, Selinsgrove, where he had been a patient for a year and a half, will be held Monday afternoon in Sacramento United Church of Christ. Rev. C. R. Lytle, his pastor, will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home of Valley View, has charge.
    Born in Upper Mahantongo Township on Nov. 4, 1870, he was a son of the late Peter and Mary Herb Starr. Mr. Starr, a former retail men's clothing merchant in Valley View, retired 12 years ago.

    Mrs. Samuel W. Starr, 73, of Valley View, died Tuesday morning at her home after a short illness.
    A native of Gratz, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Amanda Maurer and resided in Valley View most of her life. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran and Reformed Church, Sacramento.
    She is survived by her husband. Samuel W. Starr; five sons, the Rev. Ralph Starr, of Wernersville: Earl and Samuel Starr, of Valley View; Theodore Starr, of Lincoln Park, Pa. and Ambrose Starr, at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Roy Bowman and Mrs. Carl Echrenkweiler, of Valley View; Mrs. Roscoe Blyler, of Tower City, and Mrs. Howard Scheffler, of Womelsdorf.
    The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from her late home. Services will be conducted in St. Paul's Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery by the Rev. Paul W. Yoh and the Rev. D. I. Sultzbach. Burial will be made in j the adjoining cemetery.

A veteran of WWII, Mr. Anderson served for 6 1/2 years with the U.S. Marine Corps, fighting in the South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Palm Beach County Chefs Association since it's inception. He was a former member, usher and kitchen volunteer at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach for 33 years and is currently a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Palm Beach Gardens.
    He is survived by his wife, Marjorie L. Anderson of Palm Beach Gardens.
