    Laura E Knorr, age 89, of Valley View, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    She was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1932, in Dornsife, a daughter of the late Edwin L Herb and the late Ida M (Rebuck) Herb.
    Laura was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.
    She was a member of Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church, Erdman; where she was very active in the Rainbow Class.
    Her husband Wallace E Knorr passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by a daughter, Virginia E Knorr.
    She is survived by two sons, Randy Herb and his wife Debra of Gratz, and Leonard Knorr and his wife Karen of Dillsburg; a daughter, Julie Derck and her husband Rick of Shamokin; five grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Minerva Starr of Valley View; a nephew, Dennis Starr of Valley View; and a niece, Donna Sitlinger of Valley View.
    Services will be held at Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church, Erdman, on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating.
    Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday at the church.
    Burial will be made in Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Cemetery, Erdman.
    Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 48 Main St, Klingerstown PA 17941.
    Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

    Miss Mary Ellen Lahr of Lykens Township, Spring Glen R. D. was wed to Carl L. Snyder of Millersburg, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, at 6:00 o'clock Saturday evening. Rev. W. Z. Artz, Elizabethville, performed the double ring ceremony.
    The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a gown of white net and lace over taffeta, and carried a white Bible with white orchid.
    She was attended by Miss Betty Engle of Gratz, as maid of honor, who wore a gown of lavendar lace over taffeta, and carried a bouquet of yellow and white roses.
    Mrs. Wilbur Kerstetter, Millersburg R. D., Mrs. Merlin Harner, Dalmatia R. D., and Miss Ruth Campbell of Halifax D. D., were bridesmaids.
    Mrs. Harner's gown was of lavendar lace over taffeta, and she carried a bouquet of yellow and white roses. The gowns of Miss Campbell and Mrs, Kerstetter were of pink lace over taffeta, and they carried bouquets of pink and white roses.
    Gilbert Snyder of Millersburg. served as best man for his brother, and ushers were Merrill Bixler of Spring Glen R. D., and Lee Herb of Lykens.
    Mrs. Pershing Henninger, organist, played the wedding music.
    The bride is the daughter of Ray Lahr, Spring Glen It. D., and the late Mrs. Lahr, and is employed by the Regal Shirt Company, Millersburg.
    Mr. Snyder is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Snyder of Millersburg, and is also employed by the Regal Shirt Company. The couple will reside in Spring Glen R. D.

    Carl L. Snyder, 62, of 947 N. River Road, Halifax, a longtime stalwart in the Millersburg Moose Lodge, died Sunday at home.
    He worked at Taylor Wharton, was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, administrator and past governor of Millersburg Moose Lodge and recipient of Moose Pilgrim Degree of Merit, and enjoyed his family, bowling, hunting and fishing.
    "He did so much. He was the administrator here for years." said Rich Leitzel, treasurer of Lodge 59.
    "He was in charge of all new membership, the club itself and its social quarters," Leitzel said.
    "He was a Pilgrim Degree Moose, the highest you can get in the Moose and made so many contributions here, and on the international level too.
    "He was a great friendly guy," Leitzel said.
    Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Lahr Snyder; two sons, Carl Jr. of Clarks Summit and Jeffrey of Hampton, Va; a daughter, Vikki Rothermel of Bloomsburg; three brothers, Gilbert of Linglestown, Larry of Duke Center, and Stanley of Coon Rapids, Minn; and. four sisters, Lena Harner of Pillow, Sandra Stahler of Gratz, Marcia Matter of Elizabethville and Evelyn Herb-Paul of Wiconisco.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and.10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

    Charles Herb, aged 79 years, 8 months, esteemed citizen of Pillow, died Sunday morning, December 7th at 7:30 o'clock.
    Mr. Herb was a soldier cf vhe Clvll War, a private of Company K, 40th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers and enrolled the 4th day of March, 1864, for 3 years or during the war, and the honorably discharged from service the 16th day of Juiy, 1865, near Alexandria, by reason of a special order No. 160 Department of Washington. No objectlon to his being re-enlisted known to exist; altho he had but 1 year, 4 months and 14 days in the army until the war was over; he had part in the finish of it, which ' we all know, or many of us, that it was not a pleasant part of it, meaning win or loose.
    Mr. Herb, a son of Charles Horn and wife, was born April 7, 1845, ln Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County and was baptized by Rev. Steely the 20th day of May, 1845. At the age of 10 years he went with his parents to Paxinos and from this place at the age of 19 years he enlisted in the army. He affiliated himself with the Reformed church at Urban some 30 years ago under the late Rev. A. Hottenstine.
    Mr. Herb leaves to mourn his departure, a widow, 2 daughters, Mrs. Chas. Dubendorf, of the state of Washington, and Mrs. Paul Witmer, of Mandata; three sons, Henry, of , Dornsife; Edward, of Red Cross, and Preston, a soldier of the 69th Company C. A. C, at Fort Monroe, Va. Twenty-two grandchildren. two great grandchildren and a host of friends and acquaintances.
    Funeral from his late residence Friday forenoon at 10 o'clock. Services and burial at Urban Church cemetery. His pastor, Rev. Elias S. Noll will officiate.
