    He was employed at the former Pine Grove Tannery, as a coal miner in the Pine Grove area and then as a steward at the Pine Grove Fish and Game Association.
    He was affiliated with Jacob's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Catherine E. Rehrer, on June 8, 1995.

    Mrs. William Reinhart, 53, 27 Wood St., Pine Grove, died Friday night in the Pottsville Hospital, where she had been admitted, shortly before her death. She was employed by Dizler's Butcher Shop, Pine Grove.
    A native of Pine Grove Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Beulah Felty Umbenhauer and a member of Jacob's Church.
    In addition to her husband she is survived by three children: Fay Ann and David, Pine Grove, and Kenneth, of Reading, and these brothers and sisters: Clarence, Randolph and Allen Umbenhauer, and Mrs. Erma Minnich and Mrs. Ruth Clements, all of Pine Grove RD 1; Guy Umbenhauer, Schuylkill Haven; Dale and Ralph Umbenhauer, Pine Grove RD 3, and Luther Umbenhauer and Mrs. Arlene Reinbold, both of Lebanon.

    Luther P. Umbenhauer, 63, of 105 S. Third St., Lebanon, died Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
    He was born in Pine Grove Township, Feb. 2, 1920, a son of the late Harry and Beulah Felty Umbenhauer.
    He was a miner. Mr. Umbenhauer was a member of Jacob's Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Grace Schneck; two daughters, Janet, wife of Max Meyers, Poittsville, and Doris, wife of Harold Heinbach, Cochransville; a son, Dennis, Mount Aetna; eight grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; five brothers, Clarence Sr., Randolph, Dale and Allen, all of Pine Grove, and Guy, a patient in Rest Haven; two sisters, Erma Minnich, Pine Grove, and Arlene Giest, Lebanon.
    Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. The Rev. Raymond Hand will officiate. Interment will be in Jacob's Cemetery.2

    Allen A. "Fat" Umbenhauer, 79, of Suedberg Road, Pine Grove, died Thursday evening at Pottsville Hospital.
    Born in Pine Grove, Dec. 19, 1923, he was a son of the late Harry and Beulah Felty Umbenhauer.
    He was employed as a miner at Zimmerman Coal Co., Ravine. He played with the Irving baseball team and had a contract to play major league baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies.
    He was an active member of the Pine Grove Fish & Game Club and the Orwin Gun Club.
    He was preceded in death by two sons, Allen A. Jr. and Robert; five brothers, Clarence "Tillie," Luther, Randolph, Ralph and Moses; four sisters, Irma Minnich, Ruth Clements, Feme Reinhart and Bessie Umbenhauer.
    Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Mabel V. Zerbe; a son, Eugene "Utch," Pine Grove area; two daughters, Lorraine Shelters and Alice Aungst, both of the Pine Grove area; two brothers, Dale "Uncle," Pine Grove, and Guy, Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Arlene Geist, Lebanon; four grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Dr. Richard W. Schoenfelder officiating. Interment will be in Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.2

    Pine. Grove Youth Killed In Airplane Crash Near Tokio
    Pvt. Forrest Umbenhauer of Pine Grove Township, with the U. S Army Air Forces in Japan, was killed in a plane crash on Honshu Island, near Tokio, according to word received in Pine Grove through the Western Union, from the War Department.
    News of the death of Pvt. Umbenhauer was taken to his family by Wm. S. Brobst, manager of the Western Union office at Pottsville, and the Rev. Lester Utz, pastor of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church, Pine Grove Twp. The details of the plane crash were not given in the telegram.
    The office of the Quartermaster General at Washington, D. C, in formed the boy's family that the body of Pvt. Umbenhauer will be sent to the United States and, on arrival in this country, will be ship ped to the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove. It will arrive within the next six to eight weeks.
    Pvt. Umbenhauer was born in Pine Grove Township, the son of the late Harry and Beulah Umbenhauer. He was educated in the rural schools and worked for a time as an independent coal miner. He enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Force in December of 1945.
    He is survived by these brothers and sisters: Randolph, World War II veteran of the European Theatre; Dale, World War II veteran of the Pacific Theatre; Clarence, Ralph, Luther, and George, at home; Allan of Pine Grove; Mrs. John Minnick, Pine Grove Township; Mrs. Wm. Reinhart, and Mrs. Herbert Reinbold of Jonestown.

    Dale R. "Uncle" Umbenhauer, 87, of Pine Grove, passed away Wednesday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    Born Dec. 12, 1926, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Harry and Beulah Felty Umbenhauer.
    Dale was a T5 with the Army during World War II, having served with Company C, 1886th Engineer Aviation Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Meritorious Unit Award, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
    Dale had been a miner.
    He was a life member of Pine Grove American Legion Post 374 and Hose Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Pine Grove, and he enjoyed playing baseball.
    He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Umbenhauer and Kevin Umbenhauer; granddaughter, Tracey Umbenhauer; six brothers, Clarence, Allen "Fat," Luther, Randolph, Ralph and Moses Umbenhauer; and four sisters, Irma Minnich, Fern Reinhert, Ruth Clements and Bessie Umbenhauer.
    Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Arlene Heinbach Umbenhauer; three sons, Richard Umbenhauer and his wife, Hattie, Harry Umbenhauer, and Craig Umbenhauer and his wife, Gail; four daughters, Jane Umbenhauer, Sherry wife of Gary Aungst, Betty, wife of Barry Smith, and Lori, wife of Joe Fisher, all of Pine Grove; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brother, Guy Umbenhauer, Schuylkill Haven; sister, Arlene Geist, Lebanon; nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. There will be a viewing from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963.2
