    William Emerson Carl, 68, of Star Route, Valley View, formerly of Barry Township, died at 12:40 Friday afternoon at Good Samaritan Hospital where he was a medical patient since Sept 30.
    Mr. Carl was born Oct. 6, 1906 in Barry Township, son of the late Moses and Jessica Wetzel Carl. He had been a miner and employed at regional mines since his youth. He was of the Protesttant faith. He was a member of the Hegins and Valley View Fire Companies, the Valley View Gun Club and the Senior Citizens of Hegins Valley.
    His wife, the former Mabel Kehler, died in 1966.
    Surviving are 13 children, Raymond, RD Ashland; Mrs. John Kessler, Berrysburg; Mrs. Robert Lyons, Pine Grove; Mrs. Ray Knorr, RD1 Hegins; Mrs. Levi Miller, RD Klingerstown; Marlin, Mowry; Mrs. Roy Straub, Klingerstown; James, Jacksonville, Fla; Mrs. Guy Drumheller, Hamburg; Albert, RD1 Hegins; Mrs. Lamar Schaeffer, Hegins; Wesley, Star Route, Spring Glen.Walter, Hegins; 54 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren ; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Kehler, Gordon; Mrs. Robert Maurer, RD Pitman.
    Funeral services will be held in the Church of Christ in Christiasn Union, Mabel, with the Rev. John R. Clough, RD Ashland, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle. The Buffingtpn Funeral Home, Valley View, has charge.

    George Paul (Pete) Wiest, 50, of Sacramento, brother of Earl Wiest of Tremont, died suddenly late Thursday afternoon of a heart attack while being driven to his home by his wife from the office of Dr. Maynard Herring, Valley View.
    Mr. Wiest was a deputy game warden and was a native of Hubley Township, a son of the late Printon and Maglada Diefer [Dieter] Wiest. He served as deputy game warden for Western Schuylkill County for the past eight years.
    Mr. Wiest was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sacramento; Swatara Lodge No. 267, F. and A.M., and Royal Arch Mason Chapter 221, both of Tremont, and the Sacramento Fire Company.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Evelyn Kimmel; two sons, Airman 1/C Dennis, stationed at Anchorage, Alaska; Larry, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald Hoffman, Mechanicsburg R. D; Mrs. Darwin Stiely, Hegins R. D. 1; Linda, Harrisburg; four brothers, Earl, Tremont; Clair and Mark, both of Fleetwood; Arthur, Sacramento; one sister, Mrs. Elva Leitzel, Herndon R. D., and four grandchildren.
    His funeral was held on Monday afternoon from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sacramento. Rev. J. Wilson Harner, pastor, officiated at the services, and interment was made in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Sacramento. Buffington Funeral Service, Valley View, had charge of the arrangements.
