    Mrs. Lovina Klinger, 81, of Dalmatia, well known locally where she has a number of relatives, died very suddenly on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Bobb, of Harrisburg. where she was visiting.
    The aged woman was stricken suddenly ill with a heart attack and died within a few minutes. A native of the locality of Dalmatla, the departed had resided there all her life and was widely known, not only in that immediate vicinity but locally and thruout this end of the county.
    The funeral is to be held from the family homestead at 11 tomorrow morning, with burial, to be made in the Dalmatia cemetery.

  • Isaac enlisted in the US Army on 28 November 1898. His enlistment record indicates that he was 22 years and 8 months old, he had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and dark complexion, and was 5' 9 1/2" tall. His occupation was listed as "farmer," while his hometown was Georgetown (now Dalmatia), PA. He served with the 10th Infantry Division, Company B for 3 years and was discharged November 28, 1901 from Fort McKenzie, WY, at the expiration of his service. His record contains the notation "excellent."4
  • The 1900 Census lists "Isaac J. Klinger," born March 1876, from Georgetown (Dalmatia), PA, as being a military musician with the 10th Infantry Division, Company B, 10th regiment, living in the Santa Cristina Barracks, Cuba.3

  • Gordon Elias M. Klinger married Margaret Blanche Ogden, daughter of Tolbert D. Ogden and Mary E. (?), on 17 June 1902, Clearfield County, PA. At the time of their marriage, Gordon was living in Dalmatia, while Blanche was living in Clearfield.4,5,6
  • At the time of his father's death in 1917, Gordon was living in Baltimore, MD.1
  • In 1920, Gordon, 45, was married and living with his in-laws in Baltimore, MD. Gordon was operating his own business in "multigraping [sic]." Gordon and his wife Margaret B. Ogden, age 38, had one child, a daughter Mary E., age 8.4
  • By 1930, Gordon and "Blanche" were living on Haddon Avenue in Baltimore, in a household that included their daughter Mary and Gordon's widowed father-in-law Tolbert Ogden. Gordon was an office manager for an engraving company. They had been married about 27 years.5
  • The Social Security Death index contains a listing for a "Gorden Klinger," SSN: 212-03-4040, whose last residence was at zip code 49931, Houghton, Michigan. "Gorden" was born 23 Jul 1873 and died Feb 1970. His social security number was issued in Maryland before 1951. His brother Jasper's obituary indicates that Gordon was living in Houghton, MI, in 1957, making it likely that this "Gorden" was the son of Emanuel Klinger.7

  • She married James Edwin Wirt, son of William Wirt and Elizabeth (?), on 13 August 1903, Pillow, Northumberland County, PA.5,6
  • The 1910 Census lists the following family that appears to be that of Bertha Klinger:James E. Wert 26 [worked on railroad]; Bertha E. Wert 25 [married 6 years, 3 children, 3 living]; Luther C. Wert age 6; Tolbert G. Wert age 3; and Violet L. E. Wert age 10 months. The "Bertha" listed in the Census would be the correct age for Emanuel and Lovina's daughter. Bertha, however, cannot be located in subsequent Census listings, although the remainder of the family listed in the 1910 Census can.5
  • At the time of the 1920 Census, "Edward" Wirth, with children "Chauncey" [probably Luther] and Tolbert were living on Church Street in Sunbury, Northumberland County, with Edward's parents, William and Elizabeth Wirt. "Edward" was working on the railroad. The household also included another grandson of William named "Walter" who was 14 years old. It is not clear who he was.7
  • In 1930, "Edwin" and 2 of the same children, Chauncey and Tolbert, were all living in the household of "Edwin's" daughter Violet, who was by then married to Theodore R. Conrad. Violet had at least 2 children of her own (Maxine J. and Arlene F.) They lived on River Avenue. "Edwin" was working on a railroad. Theodore was a weaver in a silk mill, while both "Chauncey" and Tolbert also worked in a silk mill.8
  • Bertha E. Klinger died on 24 January 1961, Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, PA, at age 76.3
