John attained his PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He continued his studies at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA.
    He was a retired biological research scientist and had worked for the Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, MD.
    He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, and was a church archivist . He was a member of the Elizabethville and Gratz Historical Societies, Joesph Priestly Chapel Associates, Mahanoy Mahantongo Historical and Preservation Society, Inc; and the Romberger Reunion Association.
    Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Margery (Davis) Romberger at home; Son, Daniel D. Romberger, Silver Spring, MD; Daughter, Ann Fontaine, Richland, MI; Sister, Marie Enders, Millersburg; 3 Grandchildren, R. Cameron Nicholson, Santa Clara, CA, Carrie I. Meyer, Kalamazoo, MI and John F. Meyer, Richland, MI.
    There will be a visitation at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6-8 PM and again at his church on Friday from 10-11 AM. Services will start at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.

    Margery Davis Romberger, age 88, of Richland, Michigan, died July 12, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Richland. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 9, 1929, the daughter of Cameron and Irene Finlay Davis. She attended State High School and Kalamazoo College, and graduated from Swarthmore College. In 1951, Margery married John Albert Romberger, who died in 2014. They lived in State College, Pennsylvania; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Pasadena, California; Silver Spring, Maryland; and Elizabethville, Pennsylvania.
    Margery is survived by her daughter, Ann Fontaine; son, Daniel Romberger; three grandchildren, Cameron (Megan) Nicholson, Cara Irene Meyer, and John Finlay Meyer; a sister, Betsy Davis Barlow, and several nieces & nephews.
    A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4th at The First Presbyterian Church of Richland, 8047 Church Street, Richland, MI 49083 with a luncheon to follow after the service. A memorial service will also be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11th at the St. John's Lutheran Church, The Hill Church, 215 St. John Rd., Elizabethville, PA 17023 where the family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.     He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Wolfe Romberger in 1976 and a son, Robert in 1970.
    Surviving are three sons, Larry E. of Wyoming, Terry L. of Williamstown and Ronald T. of Tower City; a brother, Russell of West Chester; two sisters, Mary Lou Kanaval of Sinking Springs, and Marion Santak of Delaware; nine grandchildren; and 21 great­grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 2, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, with Rev. Marleen Griffith Stull officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.
    Memorial donations may be made to the Liberty Hose Co. No.1, W. Broad Stteet, Williamstown, 17098. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.6
