    A son of the late Noah and Mary (Troutman) Bohner, he was a native of Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County. His wife, who was formerly Miss Sara Hain, preceded him in death four years ago.
    He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Specht, of Malta; Walter Bohner, of Sunbury; Mrs, Ralph Romberger, Klingerstown; Mrs. Ray Kehler, of Mt. Carmel . Mrs. William Adams, Dalmatia; Mrs. Ray Troutman of Ashland; Carmi Bohner, of Montgomery; Mrs. Burgess Bingaman, Herndon R. D; Mrs. Fred Wiest, of Perkasie; Mrs. Wilson Kramer, of Schuylkill Haven, and Mrs. Samuel Fegley, Millersburg, R. D.
    Other survivors are thirty-three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Emory Shaffer of Dalmatia R. D; and three brothers, David Bohner, of Sunbury; Harry Bohner, Dalmatia, and Carmi Bohner, of Sunbury R.D.
    Funeral services were held from the Specht residence at Malta, Sunday morning, with further services in God's Missionary Church, Pillow, of which he was , a member. The pastor. Rev. E. T. Rotz, officiated, and interment was made in Union Cemetery, near Pillow.

    Survivors are her husband, nine daughters and two sons, Bessie, Mrs. Benjamin Spacht of Malta; Bertha, Mrs. Ray Kahler of Mt. Carmel; Carrie, Mrs. Ralph Romberger, Klingerstown; Katie, Mrs. Ray Troutman, Fountain Springs; Beulah, Mrs. William Adams, Dalmatia; Jennie, Mrs. Spurgeon Bingaman, Pillow; Ruth, Mrs. Samuel Fegley of Hebe; Grace, Mrs. Fred Wiest, Hebe; Mildred, at home; Walter Bohner of Rife and Carmie Bohner of Montgomery.     Funeral services will be held from the residence ac 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning with further services in God's Missionary Church, Pillow. Rev. Truman Wise of Rebersburg will officiate and interment will be made in the Union Cemetery at Pillow.

    Mrs. Victoria Merold of Arllngton, Va, a former Tower City resident, has received word from the War Department that her son, Warrant Officer Lawrence. E. Merold was killed in action in North Africa. Captain Merold was thirty-seven years old and married to Wilma Schegg of Akron, Ohio, about two years ago, shortly after he enlisted in the service.
    To survive, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Victoria Merold, Arlington, Virginia: wife, Mrs, Wilma Merold, Akron, Ohio: two, brothers in the service, Rufus and William, and a brother, Harry, of Virginia.     Lawrence E. Merold grew up at 1275 N. Main Street in Akron, Ohio. He attended Findley Elementary School and graduated from North High School in January of 1927.
    He was the son of Patrick Merold and Victoria Klinger. He had two brothers: Harry D. and Rufus M. and four half brothers: William, Charles N., John A., and Albert H. He was married to Wilma V. Schnegg.
    Larry entered military service on 03/07/1941 in the US Army where he was a Warrant Officer Junior Grade. Service Company, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st "Big Red One" Infantry Division, Service # W2117935.
    He was killed In Action 8 April 1943 in a Non-Battle incident in Tunisia. While driving his commanding officer and three others to an unknown location orders were given to proceed through a known minefield. A mine was struck and Larry was killed. All other occupants of the vehicle survived. Buried at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron, OH. He was thirty-nine years old at the time of his death.6
