    Bruce Leroy Bixler, 79, of 109 W. Maple St., Valley View, died Sunday at home.
    Born in Hubley Township, Dec. 31, 1925, he was a son of the late George W. and Minnie E. Rothermel Bixler. He was a graduate of Hubley Town ship High School.
    He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant.
    He retired as a coal miner from Kocher Coal Co., Valley View.
    He was a member of the Sacramento Fire Company.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryant L., in 2004.
    Surviving are three sons, Don E. and George A., both of Hegins, and Steven B., Valley View; a companion, Allberta Matter, Valley View; a sister, Betty Lila Welker, RD Lykens; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. Curtis H.E. Zemencik will officiate. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.     He was retired from Litton Industries, Williamsport. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
    Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former R. JoAnne Maurey; a son, Brett A. Bixler of Bellefonte; a daughter, Rebecca L. Bixler of Jersey Shore; two grandchildren; a brother, Bruce L. Bixler, and a sister, B. Lila Welker, both of Valley View.
    Funeral services were held in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. LeCrone officiating. Interment was in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Meow House, 314 Deckman Hollow Road, Williamsport, PA 17701. Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, was in charge of arrangements.

    Ralph Harrison, Mountain Valley Lake, RD1 Ashland, died Saturday morning at Reading Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
    Mr. Harrison, born in Philadelphia, son of the late Theodore and Golden Mae Houser Harrison, lived in Mountain Valley Lake the last year. He was employed as a machine operator at the Pennsylvania Forest Products, Gordon. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a World War II veteran and had served overseas with the Army engineers.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Ethel Bainbridge; a son, Kenneth Robert, at home; four stepchildren, John Super, Honeybrook; William Super, Havertown; Mrs. Thomas DiCamillo, Norwood; Mrs. Anthony LaRusso, Glen Ridge, N.J.
    Private funeral services will be held from the Ritzel Funeral Home Minersville, Wednesday morning. Burial, also private, will be in the Mount Peace Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
