    Dr. G. Richard Hartz, 53, of 541 E. Woods Drive, Lititz, died unexpectedly at his residence at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 1984.
    He was the husband of Joan Gilbert Hartz. Born in Lebanon, he was a son of Walter and Alice Strohecker Hartz, Lititz.
    Hartz practiced his obstetrics and gynecology specialty in Lancaster for the past 25 years with Dr. David E. Wiley. He was graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He attended Lebanon Valley College and was graduated from Lebanon High School in 1949. He was a past president of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a past president of the staff of the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital and was presently the chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Association and the Lancaster County Society of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.
    He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church.
    He bred and trained Labrador retrievers and was a hunter and gentleman farmer.
    In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by sons Douglas R. and David G. Hartz, both at home; and sisters, Ann, wife of John LaClair, Lititz; and Susan, wife of Joseph Donches, Mt. Joy.
