    Norma Gertrude Nye Straub Wiest of Harrisburg, PA passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the age of 90.
    Norma was raised by a large adopted family in Valley View, PA. She loved to sing, dance (jitterbug), shop, story tell, play May I, knit, listen to music at the bandstand, comb for seashells, hit the casino, travel, have a draft beer with pizza and occasionally speak Pennsylvania Dutch.
    Norma married the love of her life Russell Clayton Wiest in November 1947. They raised three boys together David Russell, Steven Craig and Jeffrey Scott in Penbrook, PA until Russell passed away in July 1975. She worked for Hammakers, Hartman Motorcars & Freedom Toyota until she retired in 2011 at the young age of 85. She loved to work and be with people. She attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Penbrook, PA.
    Norma is survived by her son David Russell (LuAnne), 6 grandchildren – Lurene Wiest, CheraLynn Yankowski (John), Autumn Wiest, Kendra Gettys, Scott Wiest (Donielle), Elizabeth Cole (Ronald) and 6 great- grandchildren. And many others she loved as her own family.
    A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11 A.M. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. The Rev. Pamela Carnes will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
    A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
    The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to a charity of your choice, hug the ones you love a little tighter and take care of one another, because that is what GG would have wanted.1

    Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Straub, widow of Walter Straub of 1716 W. Main St., Valley View, died Wednesday in Good Samaritan Hospital where she was a patient eight weeks. She was 80.
    Mrs. Straub was born June 30, 1891 at Gratz. She was a daughter of the late John W. and Viania (Schwalm) Koppenhaver.
    Prior to retiring, she had 1 worked as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry in Valley View. Her husband died in 1948, and a son, Edwin, preceded her in death.
    Mrs. Straub was a member of Coleman's Church at Lykens Township.
    Surviving are a daughter, Norma, wife of Russell Wiest, Harrisburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Katherine Straub of Center Valley; four brothers, Thomas, Valley View; Allen, Pottsville; William of Pennsburg; and Luther, Myerstown.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from Colemen's Church. Rev. William Whithman, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church of Valley View, officiating. Interment in Klinger's Cemetery at Erdman. There will be no viewing. Buf fington Funeral Home, Valley View, has charge.
