    Shamokin Woman Dies in Hospital
    Mrs. Lulu (Dietz) Koble, 68, of 19 North Grant Street, died at 9:10 last night in Shamokin Hospital a short time after she was admitted as a medical patient. Death, due to a complication, terminated a brief illness.
    A native of Reed's station, Mrs. Koble was born July 10, 1892, daughter of the late Aaron and Elizabeth (Herb) Dietz. She attended elementary school in the Reed Station area and was graduated from Shamokin High School in 1910.
    Mrs. Kobel resided in Chicago, Ill., for many years and returned to the Shamokin area approximately four years ago. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. The late city resident was married in 1916 to John R. Koble, who preceded her in death several years ago.
    Survivors include one sister, Miss Carrie Dietz, and a brother, Warren Dietz, with whom Mrs. Koble made her home, and several nieces and nephews.
    Funerals services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut Streets. The Rev. George C. Bingaman, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening, between 7:00 and 9:00, and Monday until time of services.

    Surviving are his wife Emma, four children, Ammon and John Williams and Mrs. William Strohecker, all of Klingerstown R. D., and Mrs. Emerson Slaughterbank, Mount Carmel.

    He was a son of Mrs. Emma nee Deitz and the late John Deitz [Williams] and besides his mother, residing in Klingerstown is survived by his wife, the former Alva Williams, two sons, two daughter and several sisters.

    KLINGERSTOWN -- Hilda I. Strohecker, 87, of Klingerstown RD1 died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1993, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, June and Paul Kahler of Klingerstown RD1.
    Born Aug. 15, 1906, in Spring Glen, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Deitz) Williams. Her husband, William H. Strohecker, died on Nov. 23, 1955.
    She attended Spring Glen schools and the Four Square Gospel Church at Muir. She was a homemaker.
    She is survived by four sons, H. Dale of Spring Mills, Leonard of Klingerstown RD1 and Paul and Raymond, both of Dalmatia; one daughter, June Kahler of Klingerstown RD1; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
    Mrs. Strohecker was preceded in death by three sons, Ralph, Rue and Earl; one sister, Jennie Slotterback; and two brothers, John Williams and Amnion Williams.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD1, by the Revs. Boyd and Debbie Gompher of Harrisburg.
    Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown RD1.
    The viewing will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    Emerson Slotterback, 70, of Mount Carmel, died Monday in Geisinger Hospital where he was a patient for five weeks. He was born in Lavelle, a son of the late Charles and Ella Slotterback. He was a miner for the Locust Gap Colliery until it ceased operations and was then employed by Standard Press Steel, Jenkintown, until his retirement in 1971.
    He was married in 1927 to the former Jennie Williams. He was a member of the trace United Church of Christ, Mount . Carmel.
    Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Saukaitis and Mrs. Henry Pinkowski, Lansdale; Mrs. Francis Wesner, Dover; a son Charles of Lester; 17 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Annie Pennypacker of Mowry.

    KLINGERSTOWN — Leonard M. “Checkie” Stro- hecker, 81, of Klingerstown, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
    He was born June 2, 1930, in Klingerstown, a son of the late William and Hilda (Williams) strohecker. He was married for 59 years to the former Marlene Long, who survives. the couple would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on Sept. 22.
    He attended the Delps school, Klingerstown.
    “Dutch”, as he was known to his coworkers, retired from Eastern Express Inc., where was employed as a truck driver.
    A man of faith, Checkie was a member of Muir Foursquare Gospel Church for 36 years and served as the head usher for 22 years. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local 764 and a former member of the Klingerstown Fire Company.
    He enjoyed hunting and going to camp, and could be found every Friday afternoon leaning on his pole at the Crossroads auction at Gratz. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Connie and Earl Clark, of Pillow, Deb and Boyd Gumpher, of Harrisburg, Wanda and Richard Shadle, of Numidia, Leonard Jr. and Sharon Strohecker, of Erdman, Roger and Alice Strohecker, of Weishample, and Sheila and Ryan Jones, of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; three brothers, Dale, Paul, and Raymond Strohecker; one sister, June Kahler; and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Rue Strohecker.
    A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 10, at the Muir Foursquare Church, 111 E. Washington St., Tower City, with Pastor Mitch (Pastor Greg Mitchell) officiating.
    Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the church in his memory.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown has charge of the arrangements.
