    Jack was the owner-operator of Morgan's Service Station, Tremont, for many years.

    He loved telling stories, reading, hunting and his hound dogs.
    Preceding him in death were his wife, Ann Herb Morgan; a son, David Morgan; and a brother, Thomas Morgan.
    Surviving are his partner, Norma J. Collins, Tremont; three daughters; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Berne, Valley View, and Eileen Divine, Donaldson. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Tremont.     Self-inflicted Head Wound Causes Death of Area Man
    A 49-year-old Herndon area resident was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound yesterday morning in the bedroom of his farm home located in Lykens Township, Dauphin County.
    State police of the Shamokin sub station were called to investigate when initial reports placed the location of the home in Northumberland County. The investigation was turned over to Lykens State Police. The victim was identified as Guy P. Maurer, Herndon, R.D.
    Troopers Earl McGinlev and Frank Keating reported that Maurer shot himself in the head with a .22 calibre target pistol. Ernest Korten, deputy coroner of Northumberland County, said death was instantaneous.
    Maurer was reported to have been despondent. He and members of his family returned home from a trip to Florida Saturday night.
    Members of the family heard the gunshot and found Maurer on the bed. Dr. Richard Stark of the Dai-Hern Medical Center was summoned and pronounced the victim dead.
    Guy P. Maurer was born July 13, 1922, in Herndon. He was a son of the late Samuel and Sallie (Bohner)Maurer. Mr. Maurer was married to the former Faye Strohecker. He was a member of David's United Church of Christ. Hebe Herndon R. D., and the Klingerstown Fire Company.
    Survivors include the widow, three sons, Guy Maurer, Jr., Herndon R. D. and Marvin and Eric, at home; three daughters Mrs. John Wehry, Dornsife R.
