    Samuel Q. Maurer, Herndon R. D., died at Sunbury Community Hospital at 2:15 a.m. today, the result of a stroke suffered March 7 at his home near Hebe. He was 69 years of age and a lifelong resident of the Hebe locality. He had been engaged as a lumberman and farmer prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church, Hebe.
    The deceased was a son of the late Peter and Eliza Rebuck Maurer. He is survived by his wife, the former Sallie May Bohner, and four sons and two daughters, as follows: Emory I., Berrysburg, Guy P. and Paul S; Herndon R.D., and Ernest L., at home; Mrs. Thomas Soster Hummelstown, and Mrs. Marlin Paul, Dalmatia R. D. Twenty-five grandchildren, also, survive.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, al St. David's Church, Hebe, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Billow, Lutheran pastor of Urban, will officiate.
    Friends and relatives may visit the Rothermel funeral home, Friday evening, for the viewing.

    A native of Jackson Township, Mrs. Maurer was born May 6, 1896, a daughter of the late Peter and Saloma (Zartman) Bohner. She was a member of St. David's United Church of Christ, Hebe. She resided most of her life in the Hebe area, where her husband, Samuel, was a farmer. He died some years ago.
    Surviving are four sons, Emory, Bettysburg; Guy, Paul and Ernest, all of Hemdon R.D; two daughters, Mrs. Marlin (Lena) Paul, Dalmatia, and Mrs. Herbert (Gladys) Callister, Blairstown, N.J; 34 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Engle, Island Park; Mrs. Dan Peiffer, Berrysburg, and Mrs. Ellen Shaffer, Sunbury.

Wehry Hunter Stevens; three brothers, Junior Maurer, Marvin Maurer, and Eric Maurer and two sisters Jane Ellen Bartsch and Michelle Troutman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
    Viewing for Dorene and John will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown the Rebekah Lodge will conduct their service at 8 PM. Viewing will also be held from 9-11 AM Friday, November 19, 2021 at the church with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown.3

    Born in Klingerstown, on April 7, 1945, he was a son of the late Harold Sr. and Carol (Warner) and Wehry.
    He was the husband of Dorene Faye (Maurer) Wehry who passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.
    John graduated from the Tri-Valley High School and was lifetime farmer at Wehry Brothers Hog and Grain. It was common to find him at Wehry Meats TTA or out on a catering job.
    He was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready Klingerstown.
    John will be remembered for his singing, he sang with the Salemairs Quartet and also at numerous weddings and events. He was also a member of the Herndon Lodge # 702 F&AM.
    John is survived by three sons John L, husband of Heidi Wehry, Jr, of Dornsife; David C Wehry, of Dornsife; Matthew P, husband of Crystal Wehry, of Klingerstown; 8 grandchildren, Colton T. Wehry, Wyatt J. Wehry, Duane and Isaiah Kulp, Hilary P. Wehry, Robyn J. Wehry, Myah G. Wehry Hunter Stevens; four brothers Harold Jr., Harry Sr., Tyrone Sr., and Randy Sr as well as many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Oxenrider and two brothers, Walter and Lloyd Wehry.
    Viewing is from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at the Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown. Viewing will also be held from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at the church with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown.8
