    He was born in Hegins, on June 28, 1925, a son of the late Elsie (Stutzman) Maurer and the late Lawrence Maurer.
    He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for the past 61 years. He enjoyed fishing, painting, spending time with family, and talking to others about the Bible. Norman was employed at TRW in Harrisburg and also at The Legal Coal Co. In later years, he did sign painting and raised tomatoes for Chef Boyardee.
    Norman is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Lucille (Strohecker) Maurer, three daughters - Barbara Scott of Herndon, Yvonne Troutman of Elizabethville, Kelly Hawkins of Savannah, GA; son - Norman Maurer of Herndon; and several grand and great grand children.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Don Maurer.
    Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Elizabethville.
    In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Elizabethville.

    HALIFAX Lawrence R. Strohecker, 76, of 1105 N River Road, entered into eternal life at Community General Osteopathic Hospital on August 26. He was born on February 5, 1933, in Hebe, PA, son of the late Albert and Vinnie Klinger Strohecker. He retired from Conrail, and later worked for Valley Ag 'n Turf in Halifax. He was a member of the Halifax UM Church, Fisherville Fire Co., and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. The greatest joys of his life were spending time with his grandsons, and attending their sporting events. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending gospel music concerts. Surviving are his wife, Orpha Troutman Strohecker, a daughter, Charlotte Gingrich of Halifax, a son, Andrew Strohecker of Halifax; four grandsons, Ethan Gingrich, Kyle Gingrich, Cody Strohecker, and Caleb Strohecker; and numerous brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2:00 for visitation, with the service beginning at 3:00 in the Halifax UM Church, 105 Wind Hill Drive, Halifax. Burial in Riverview Memorial Gardens was held at the family's convenience. Memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Ambulance Association, 225 Bunker Hill Road, Halifax, PA 17032 Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg is handling the arrangements.3

    DORNSIFE — Jacob A. “Jake” Wilkinson, 79, of Dornsife, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at his home. He had been in ill health since June.
    He was born July 10, 1931, in Dornsife, a son of the late Alton S. and Goldie I. (Tressler) Wilkinson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley I. (Carpenter) Wilkinson who died July 4, 1973, and is survived by his second wife, Margaret Faye (Strohecker) Maurer Wilkinson.
    He was a graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School, class of 1949 and served with the Army during the Korean War.
    Jake loved spending time on the family farm and for 26 years was employed as a bar turner for the former Bethlehem Steel, Steelton, retiring in 1993.
    He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Red Cross, was a volunteer with Haven Ministry, Sunbury and helped with the Line Mountain Food Bank. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2385, Gratz, and a member of the Herndon Area Senior Center.
    An avid hunter and fisherman, Jake also loved playing Eucher. He loved traveling and enjoyed visiting beaches up and down the south east coast. He was an avid collector of antiques, belt buckles, old bottles, old clocks, and pocket knives. He enjoyed attending family picnics and reunions and searching the family farm for Indian artifacts. Jake loved and cherished his grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth L. and Anna Wilkinson, of Port Trevorton, Steven L. Wilkinson and his companion Wanda Wood, of New Columbia, and Luke A. and Kristen Wilkinson, of Herndon; six step-children, Doreen Wehry and husband John Sr., of Dornsife, Junior Guy Maurer and wife Sharon, of Spring Grove, Jane Ellen Bartsch and husband Fred, of Pittsburgh, Marvin Maurer and wife Cathy, of Herndon, Eric Maurer and wife Audrey, of Herndon, and Michelle Troutman and husband Craig, of Herndon; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Tiffany, Brandon, Sherylyn, Abagail and Brooke Wilkinson, and Floyd Yoder; 17 step-grandchildren, John Wehry Jr., David and Matthew Peter Wehry, Chris, Sheldon, and Angie Maurer, Connie Kunard, Wendy Ceslak, Dale, Stephanie, Philip, and Gary Maurer, Lynn and Daniel Maurer, and Sammy Easter, Joshua Easter and Dustin Troutman; one great-grandchild; and 20 step- great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis I. Bronokoski, of Wrightsville, and Lois K. and Stuart Lenker, of Dalmatia; one brother and sister-in-law, Neal S. and Diane Wilkinson, of Dornsife; and nieces and nephews.
    The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Red Cross, followed by a celebration of Jake’s life at 11.
    Burial with Military Honors will follow in St Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.

    Ernest E. "Ernie" Bordner, Sr., 76, of Hebe died January 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Alma J. "Peg" (Strohecker) Bordner who died January 9, 2001.
    Born July 24, 1934 in Dalmatia, PA he was a son of the late Lloyd Sr., and Daisy (Billman) Bordner. He was a graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School and retired from Brubaker Tool in Millersburg where he worked as a tool and die maker. He loved farming and will be remembered as a jack of all trades. He attended David’s United Church of Christ Church of Hebe. Ernie was a member of the NRA, Pillow Rod and Gun Club, a member of the local area fire companies and was proud to be a girl scout.
    He was fond of bluegrass music, enjoyed traveling and wood working and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
    Surviving are nine children Beverly Morgan and her husband Roy of Rebuck, Debra Heim and her husband William of Pitman, Ernest E. “Ed” Bordner, Jr. of TX, Lorraine Thompson and her husband Chris of NH, Tina Fetter and her husband Bill of Millersburg, Tim Bordner and his wife Angela of Halifax, Chris Bordner of Pitman, Brian Bordner and his wife Julie of Dornsife, and Jill Reed and her husband Andy of Halifax, a sister Sandy Bensinger of Loyalton; a brother Lloyd Bordner, Jr. of Wicinisco; 21 Grandchildren; 8 Step Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Alleman and a brother Charles Warner.
    Viewing will be held Wednesday February 2, 2011 from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown and on Thursday February 3, 2011 from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home with the funeral service beginning at 12 noon with Ricky Phillips, Chaplin of Evangelical Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Evangelical Cemetery at County Line, Dalmatia.
