He played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics and was a retired cabinet maker. Survivors include four daughters Cathy Troutman and her husband Lynn of Elizabethville, Carla Hoy and her husband Lynn of Millersburg, Karen Sherrick and her husband David of Grantville, and Paula Hoover of Halifax, a brother Linden Geist and his wife Gayle of Beavertown, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert. Services were held at the convenience of the family. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg handled arrangements.   MILLERSBURG- Thelma J. Geist, age 86, a resident at the Manor At Susquehanna Village passed away on Aug. 15, 2016.
  A native of Millersburg she was the daughter of the late Fred R. Alleman and Reba Blackway Alleman. She was also preceded in death by her mother Gladys Alleman.
  She was retired from the former Johnson Bailee shoe factory and a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on the church choir.
  Surviving are four daughters, Cathy Troutman (Lynn) of Elizabethville, Carla Hoy (Lynn) of Millersburg, Karen Sherrrick (David) of Grantville, and Paula Hoover of Halifax; sister Betty Jane VanderHill of Canton, OH; a brother Fred Alleman of Camp Hill; grandchildren Michael Troutman Brett Troutman, Jennifer King, J. Christian King, Damon Sherrick, Adam Sherrick, Jeremy Schucker and Marshall Hoover; great grandchildren Aaron and Brock Troutman, Taelyn and Barrett Troutman, Kaitlin Rush and Lucas Wilson, Grayson Sherrick, Evan and Elias Sherrick and Alexis Lee Hoover; and a great great granddaughter Mia Rush.
  Inurnment services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg at the convenience of the family.
