    Mrs. Jennie Maurer, 70, Herndon, died Saturday a 8:20 p. m. at her home following an illness of two years.
    She was the daughter of the late John Weist and Hannah Strohecker Weist. Mrs. Maurer was a member of the Salem Lutheran and Reformed Church, Rough and Ready.
    She is survived by her husband. Jacob, and ten children, Joseph, Mt. Carmel; John, Dornsife R. D., Samuel, Dalmatia; Max, Sunbury, Clarence Maurer and Mrs. Jennie Troxel, Rome, N. Y; Mrs. Florence Boyer, Pillow; Mrs. Jaffela Ford, Washington, D. C; Mrs. Alberta Paul, Herndon; and Mrs. Alvesta Yeager, Kreamer. Thirty- six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, also survive.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Rothermel funeral home at Herndon, with Rev. Charles A. Snyder, Herndon. officiating. Interment will be in the Herndon cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday evening.

    COAL TOWNSHIP - Richard A. Nahodil Sr., 68, of 155 Coal Run Road, died Thursday, June 24, 2021, at his residence.
    He was born Sept. 29, 1952, in Shamokin, a son of the late Donald A. Nahodil Sr. and Jane V. (Koch) Nahodil. He was a lifelong resident of the Shamokin/Coal Township area.
    He was a graduate of the Shamokin Area High School.
    Rich was a hard-working man. He worked alongside his father in the local coal mines at a young age, started his own general contracting business, traveled to several states where he began working on tunnels and became a dedicated foreman with Lycoming Supply Inc. for 26 years where he earned numerous awards for his work on covered bridges.
    Rich was a member of the St. Francis Home Association where he served on its board for several years, enjoyed "beer Fridays" with his friends and participated in their men's pool league.
    During his free time, Rich was found completing projects at his home or that of his friends and family members, hosting picnics or Sunday dinner, on a dance floor, singing along to his favorite music, hunting, fishing, camping, scuba diving and watching his grandchildren swim and play.
    Rich is survived by many people who love him, including his siblings, Sherry (Nahodil) Hubler, Donna (Nahodil) Cosgrove (go fish!) and Dan Nahodil; two daughters, Sharri (Nahodil) Merlino and son-in-law, Nick, and Janeen Nahodil and son-in-law, David Lagerman; his son, Arjay Nahodil and his significant other, Stef Mudry; sidekick, Pat Eby and her children, Rick Eby, his wife, Nicole, and Erin (Eby) Bronkoski, her husband, Darryl; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
    Rich was preceded in death by his father, Donald Nahodil Sr; mother, Jane (Koch) Nahodil; and a brother, Donald Nahodil Jr.
    NAHODIL - Richard A. Nahodil Sr., 68, of 155 Coal Run Road, Coal Township. There will be no visitation or hours of calling. A private service will be held with his closest family and friends in attendance. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday for Harry W. Dietrich, 64, of Hegins lownship, who died Saturday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Katie Williamson, Valley View, after a short illness. He had operated a farm in Hegins Valley for many years until retirement. Mr. Dietrich was a member of the Sacramento Reformed Church, and was superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. Surviving are 5 daughters, among them Mrs. John Ebert, Hegins R. D., and Mrs. Harold Miller, of Hegins five sons, George, Hegins R. D., William and Russell, Valley View, Daniel and Raymond, Hegins, and three sisters, including Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Francis Reed, of Elizabethville.

    She was born, Dec. 27, 1886, at Hebe, Northumberland County, a daughter of Wilson Shadle and his wife, Sarah, and was a member of the Sacramento Lutheran Church.
    Besides her husband she leaves to survive her the following children, Mrs. John Ebert, of Hegins; George, of Hegins; Hannah, Phila; Wm., Sarah, Daniel, Mary, Russell, Verna and Raymond, at home. Her parents, residing in Valley View, 8 grandchildren and these brothers and sisters, also survive, Mrs. H. Hoffman, of Vallev View; Mrs. Morris Coleman. Mrs. G Schwalm. Mrs. Kath.
