    DORNSIFE -- Norman E. Kahler, 82, of Dornsife RD1 died at 12:38 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 1992, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been a patient since March 4.
    Born in Leck Kill, Dec. 11, 1909, he was a son of the late Charles and Ellen (Gessner) Kahler. He married the former Mildred S. Mattern on Christmas Day in 1930.
    Mr. Kahler was a farmer, retiring in 1985. He was educated in Leck Kill area schools.
    He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, and Mahantongo Fire Company, Pitman.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Charles E. of Dalmatia, Paul D. of Klingerstown, Roy M. and and Willard N., both of Dornsife RD1; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Guy S., who died in 1938; a daughter, Barbara J. Snyder, who died in 1977; two grandsons, Steven Snyder and David; and four sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, by the Rev. Paul Fisher. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitors may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
    Contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Leck Kill.
    Funeral arrangements were made by the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD1.

    She was a member and former Sunday school teacher of St. John Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, a former member of its Lutheran Church Women and enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and making wedding and birthday cakes.
    She was the widow of Norman E. Kahler. Surviving are four sons, Charles E. of Dalmatia, Roy M. and Willard N., both of Dornsife RR 1, and Paul D. of Lancaster; a sister, Hilda Klinger of Mansion Nursing Home, Sunbury; a brother, Lawrence L. Mattern of Dornsife RR 1; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in her church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the church.
    Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RR 1, is handling arrangements.
